Media Edwards doesn't want to fight in July

winning streak doesn't matter that much , quality of opponents matter and Colby's win streak since 2015 was broken only by the champ. Belal's most impressive win is over Steven Thompson .

Anyway dude, easy with trying to discredit people who disagree with you. If you think the number 2 contender in WW rankings is not worthy of a title shot but number 4,5 and 6 are , so be it. I don't think we will agree.
Everyone I mentioned has a longer winning streak and more recent ranked wins than Colby you don't know what the f*** you're talking about

Not at all - he's right that Colby is the BTEC community college Usman. Colby is a worse fighter than Usman, period. Close, but worse.
He's not afraid of fighting Colby.
Then he should be happy to fight a lesser Usman , easy money, isnt it,?

Or are you telling me he prefers a harder to title defense fight?

I don't agree with you but unlike you won't discredit you.

But let me ask you a question.

Deserving a ts or not , don't you believe that there is a high chance Colby will fuck Leon up if they fight,?

LMAO, this is rich while defending Colby who sat out a year and ducked Khamzat, Burns and Belal.
Not gonna get into that with you, as you like to belabour same old point conventionally ignoring that Colby sustained a brain injury from the Masvidal attack.

I don't even like Colby , he is a trump supporting , bigoted douche but he has never been afraid to fight anyone.

You didn't ask my question, do you think that Colby will fuck Leon up in a fight or not?

4 month turn around gives you barely any time before going right into another training camp. I can see why he might want to take a bit longer than that

OK bro, I don't know the details of that one but how many times had Silva defended that belt? I think he had the record number of title defenses back then, that's very different from a guy who just won it and now makes demands.
Every guy "just won it and makes demands". Stop acting like this is unique just because you dislike Leon.

Historically the debate has been about stripping a fighter after a year. Now it's 4 months?

Usually a fighter who fought in March, being offered a fight in July, and countering with October wouldn't even be news worthy. It should come as no surprise that the rules (or lack thereof) might be different for a less beloved fighters....
This is why rstringer is a retard colby fan pretending he doesn't even like Colby

Totally.

1.8/yr average is in my head for some reason (don't know how it got there). I remember Fig brought the average up a bit, and so has Izzy.

Here's a thread from 2020 that tries to do some math. Jones at 1.6 per year, Stipe at 1 per year, Holloway at 1.6/yr, etc, etc. Funny, Rousey has the highest number at 2.3 defenses per year. I'm sure OP just became a big RR fan ;)

Anyway, the point is, the average is below 2 (I'm pretty sure). So if OP's strongest argument is that Edwards should be defending 3x/yr...well, let's just say that's a less-than-compelling argument.
A much easier read than the guy who tried to disprove me by posting about 4+ rounders (no idea what that has to do with fighting 3 times a year) and proceeding to demonstrate that no one averaged even close to 3 x a year, with the possible exception of Izzy, who still wasn't 3 times a year on average.

Where did I say that? Do you just strawman everyone? Besides, he has fought once this year and is asking to fight in October so unless you think 1+1=1 then he isn't fighting once a year.
Ouch, dumbass got burned there

Typical training camp is 6 weeks.

Man you keep embarrassing yourself on here.
2 is fair I give you that, but 3 is not too much to ask. Typical training camp is 6 weeks. So if champ is healthy he can fuck around for 2.5 months then train for 1.5 and be ready for next fight.

he loses he prolly retires. dude isn't even a full time fighter.
Putting you on ignore, can't read "prolly" any more. Its the height of stupidity. Probably really isn't a difficult word to spell.

I disagree with your assumption that Colby is the hardest title defense.

Out of the contenders who could get title fights:
Colby, Khamzat, Belal, Burns - all the top 5 outside of Usman...
I don't think Colby is necessarily a tougher fight than the other 3. I also doubt Leon views it that way. It seems perfectly reasonable to take him at his word: Colby doesn't deserve a title shot. Leon had to post an insane win streak and finally got his shot. It just doesn't sit right with Leon that Colby, who already lost 2 title shots recently, sits out a bunch and gets a TS.

I agree with Leon's take. Colby is the biggest example of a rank-squatting "duck" who never fights any contenders. That alone has made me really wish Colby gets his ass beat - simply so this division can move and reorganize like a division should. A great example of someone who did the opposite is Whittaker. He's a G who lost his belt and kept active beating guys. Colby is the worst type of rank squatter. I have no problem with Colby's persona, and unlike many who complain about him here - I like watching him fight despite his pillow-fists. I just really hate the way he avoids guys - and this type of ranked dude is terrible for true UFC fans who want to see the divisions organize properly.

It's obviously you are a Colby fan, so you think Leon is afraid of him. That is a horrible take IMO. You're just wrong about that one. I'd bet a lot of money that isn't it.
Not saying Colby is an easier fight - but it's not like out of those top contenders, Colby is obviously the toughest fight and Leon definitely wants to avoid him.
I personally think Khamzat would be the toughest fight for Leon at 170 if Khamzat could still make it.

Is this guy turning into a diva? First he doesn't want to fight Covington now he says July is too early ? TF? He fought in March that's like 4 months .

It's not how long you are champ Leon, it's how many times you defend the title.

Look at you now Leon , look at you now .
Expecting a UFC champion to fight every 4 months is sadly unrealistic. I wish they would all be that active, but that's just not the case.

If Edwards sits out for 8-12 months then we will have a problem.
