Eddie Hall vs Thor - March 19th

I was pulling for Hall, so I'm probably going to be biased, but the eye cut started the beginning of the end.... that, and the horrible conditioning.

I genuinely think Hall has the skills and power to beat Thor, but he fought like an asshole with his hands down and that weird chicken wing shoulder defense. It looked bad ass in the first minute of the fight, and when Thor didn't fold, it became obvious that Eddie had enough juice for only a couple haymakers per round.

I really hope that Hall doesn't pull a Wilder and use excuses like a chest infection, bicep tear, spiked water etc. to diminish Thor's victory. He is definitely the more likeable fighter of the two (relative to Thor), but he was pretty childish in the leadup, and will come across as being delusional if he continues to talk shit.

I genuinely don’t understand how people can think Eddie Hall is more likeable than Thor.

I think he still loses even if he didnt gas. That unorthodoxed shit can throw fighters off because its a new look and tricky to time. Thor has been training with so many guys stressing and practicing fundamentals that herky jerky shit put him off. Once he timed it and established his jab there was really no way for Eddie to score. He had no jab or scoring slip of his own. He had no body work. The only thing he showed was loading up for right hands. He honestly didn't show the abilities he claimed to have. His body movement and slips on defense were impressive at times. However, that is like always the 1st to go when big guys get going thats why keeping hands up and head movement are the preferred forms of defense.

Eddie has more personality. He's the underdog common man.
Thor is kind of like the boring generic dude that is concerned with his image. Seems fake especially when Eddie was able to bait or push his buttons to get him to rage.

I don’t see it. The dude lives in a mansion with a hyperbaric chamber and is surrounded by people he keeps on the pay roll, not exactly my idea of an everyman. Thor doesn’t really have any charisma
but at least he doesn’t speak in a way belying his true abilities. Eddie brought up any and every piece of dirt he could on Thor and has been whining since 2017. Aside from becoming angry a few times I think Thor did himself a service by taking the high road.

<FookIsThatGuy>

Any fight experience or anything like that?
Hes been training for a while. He has a fight coming up with a social media meme guy that turned out to be a fraud. The other guy was known as the Iranian Hulk and his pics got a lot of buzz around the internet. Turns out the pics were completely fake and photoshopped.

Ford is like B list villain in movies. But he's a giant and is ripped. Was supposed to transition into MMA or boxing a while ago.

It's embarrassing, he talks likes he's stokes hardest man! Then puts on that performance and gets jabbed to death.
The guys has "the beast" tattooed across his biceps, a fake scar on his eye from apparently been glassed. He talks about all this bad stuff he's done in the past and how if someone bad mouths people where he lives they get there nose bitten off...okay then Eddie haha
I used to like him but unfortunately as times gone on, build up from the fight and more fame he's got the more absolute bollocks he comes out with. He's like Jay from inbetweeners. Full of it....bit narcissistic I'm not a fan anymore. He's a nugget.
He likely gave it to himself or went to a body modification shop.
Glad I'm not the only one who has always been suspect of his perfectly placed 'scar', literally identical to what you see in a movie.

I agree, I think it has been on purpose and he seems like the kind of guy to do that and create a back story aswell.

Looks like Eddie is on that copium diet:

- "literally biggest man on he planet" (tree times me size)
- atleast I had the balls to get in there
- I still have a beautiful wife so am really winning

I wonder if he still gets that tattoo or tries to do a double or nothing bet for the rematch. You can see Eddie's ego working over time to try and protect itself here after all the trash he talked. That is what happens when you surround yourself with yes men and dont even learn to keep your hands up.

Hmm normally I'd agree with that but these two were literally the strongest men in the world at one point. They're also above 300 pounds each.

That being said I fully expect them to gas in under a minute, and Eddie will be throwing ridiculous haymakers from the jump with zero technique. His training videos have been an absolute joke, no form at all. Meanwhile Thor actually looks like a halfway competent boxer, at least during training.

Lifting weights has little correlation with punching poweras we saw today they don't hit mildly close to top level hws

Maybe not, but they still ca generate a ton of power. Eddie did hit a punching machine and clocked in at an astronomical amount. Both of these guys dead lifted 500KG - the power it takes to do that is insane.

This was a while ago too, assuming he can hit harder as his technique has gotten better.

Oh yeah no don't get me wrong they're huge guys I would not want to get hit by them

Martyn Ford vs Thor is the freak show fight we need next.

I cant wait to see Martyn atleast get in the ring and move a bit with Iranian Hulk. I am guessing Thor is probably a better athlete, as he made his money off of his athletic gifts, where as Ford was an IG fitness model. His training footage does look much better than Eddie's, and you can tell he tried learning the basics. As he was supposed to be training for years now, perhaps he can have the technical advantage over Thor, and their size/reach will be about the same.

He talked about how he likes to put so much pressure on himself that he cant lose. That is probably why he had all these insane bets going on and did so much trash talking, but you are right: combat sports a totally different animal. Fatigue makes cowards of us all. I knew he would keep getting up and not quit, but he clearly mentally changed a great deal from the first round to the last. I was hoping he would go ham at the end, but he never did that - also found it weird the final bell rang with like ten seconds. If you are down and will lose, what do you have to lose by going ham?

Gonna be fun seeing what he says after this or wants the rematch.
It's a boxing match dude, he'll get over it. Like every other shit talking grudge match someone eats crow and loses. I was pretty surprised a man of that mass lasted 6 rounds to be honest. Expected him to collapse after 2.

It was clear as day he had little to no actual sparring with boxers, showing little respect for the art of boxing and assumed he'd club Thors head off in the 1st.

I think the embarrassment would IMO have been much much worse if he called Thor out, fortunately for him it was the other way round.

Anyone else Impressed with Thor? To be honest I've seen much worse from better supposed fighters. Fair play to him, he clearly put the effort in, and went in with good fitness and great focus.
