Eddie Alvarez Says Fight w/ Poirier "Not F**king Happening Without a New Deal"

This. The time to have renegotiated a long-term deal was before the McGregor bout, when he had the most leverage.
Because it the easiest fight of his career {<jordan}

The guy is trying to get a better deal secured just incase something happens. What's wrong with that? I got no problem with it. It's not like he's Nate Diaz asking for millions to come back.

lots of cucks on sherdog bitching lol

I want him to get paid, but I also want to see him fight sooner rather than later.

So he's found a new reason not to sign against Dustin for the 6th time.
Eddie gone from underground king to ducking underground to avoid that beating. <Moves>

He was so delusionally confident that he thought he'd win and be in an even better spot.
It's a gamble. Weidman did the same thing. UFC wanted to renegotiate before the first Anderson fight, he said he'd rather renegotiate as champ. It paid off handsomely for Chris. Didn't go so well for Eddie.

I may be wrong but didn’t Eddie get a great deal when he signed ? Something like 500k plus ppv cut ? Or was that melendez. Some body highly touted from a smaller org did I’m sure

Eddie great fighter but definitely not the brightest light in the sky.

Eddie's in a predicament. He should beat Poirer or Lee for a title shot, but if he loses back in line and low pay maybe even cut(due to cost ). Eddie should negotiate winner gets title shot but UFC can't promise in case Conor returns and then eventually Tony comes back in front. Lee could take on Poirier and preempt Eddie. Though Nate is also a good option but harder to secure. Eddie needs to eat this spaghetti and put it on the line then get a deal. He is not in a strong negotiation position with the crowded LW contenders and was ineffective against Conor. Hope he sticks around but could imagine UFC being stingy.

^exactly. Holding out for a better deal makes sense ... until it doesn't. UFC doesn't have to cave into Eddie's demands for a new contract cuz you're right - if they can't make Poirer-Alvarez

they'll gladly find someone else to step in Eddie's place. And Kevin Lee is a great option. As for Nate Diaz, I read he was in talks to fight in August ... and he's been called out by Alvarez & Lee to name two fighters -but I'll believe it when I see it. Lee is a tough match up for Nate, while I'm not so sure Nate would consider Eddie high profile enough a name

real bummer to see Alvarez sitting out after an awesome performance in December. I don't necessarily think he's "afraid" of Dustin, but it would be a risky fight to take, as his last under contract.

shame cuz the Dustin-Alvarez winner would probably be next in line to challenge for the belt.

Alvarez is doing the same thing that Leslie Smith tried to do.

Maybe he should help start a union and he won't have to pull stunts.

Did you miss the part where they threatened him with Khabib?
Infact threatened both of them (Conor and Eddie) so they would stop asking for mo money
You know your good when company threatens other fighter using a matchup w you
