Yeah, I feel the same way about all of this, and it's why I wasn't really upset about the Chandler 2 decision being wrong.

More or less sums up my point of view.

People get some recency bias with Alvarez - by the time he fought Conor he was likely out of his physical prime. A lot of mileage by 2016 which was 13 years into fighting professionally.

Throughout his peak years Eddie is an all-time great for lightweight, hands down.
 
The Underground King -cult hero and legend. I loved watching him fight. Not followed his career nuchbsikcr he went to ONE but I read the move has been lucrative. Delighted for him.
 
He beat Gaetche after the Conor fight. He was good at that time and really experienced.. but Conor was a bad matchup for him no doubt.
 
The's 30 and 8 and has not had an easy fight in his last 12 fights. I'm always a rooting for him
 
He only won the belt because RDA was so sick he shouldn't have fought. He collapsed backstage during warmups. If he was healthy he'd have demolished Eddie and Conor straight after

Thats actually a fight I never considered. I always liked Alvarez but I think BJ would have smoked him
 
Eddie was the man. Top LW for years and years. Didnt deserve the Pettis or Melendez decisions, and loses to RDA most nights (especially the version of dos Anjos he fought), but im glad he touched UFC gold.

He could've done much, much better against Conor than he did. To say the least
 
I like eddie alverez a LOT!!!! He is a warrior and when he fights he comes to swang and bang 90s style. For as much as people talk crap about Chael style lay and pray fighters or technical point fighters like GSP I've noticed guys who come to bang and stand in the pocket trading like a warrior get no love here. He has the will and strength to get into a slug fest and take guys into deep waters and I respect that.
 
Alvarez is an all time great LW, I'd say top 5, he has a stacked resume and won belts in two major promotions. It's unfortunate people only remember him for his performance against Conor as he had a hell of a career.
 
its crazy how historically deep that div was/is. I remember in that Dream tourney,Eddie suddenly looked like a world beater. Then later on he struggled against other top names who emerged over the years.
 
The reason people rate him so different is basically UFC fans on the one side who only know his UFC fights and mma fans who know the whole career of Alvarez.

By the time he went to UFC he was past prime which was quite obvious in his last Bellator fight. Had lost a step in speed. If you look how much he had fought before and in how many wars he had been since a young age that was no wonder.
 
Eddie gets a lot of shit for the Conor fight but let’s be honest here, nobody was beating McGregor on that night apart from Khabib.

His win over Chandler was a split decision as well. He had a Bendo level run leading up to the Dos Anjos fight lol.
