earthquake in SoCal

The New Madrid fault isn't on the East Coast. It's near the Mississippi river in central US. It was called the New Madrid fault because the earthquake destroyed the town of New Madrid which was in what is now Missouri. It's close to Memphis Tennessee. They were estimated to be between 7 and 8 magnitude and caused the Mississippi to flow North and change it's course.

my bad, I see now I got it mixed up with the east coast fault line.
Heard about it changing the flow of the Mississippi. Crazy shit.
