Dumb Starbucks opens in California

Pretty clever, Starbucks might not even fight them to preserve their image with all the hipster nerds.

I can't tell if they're sincere in their exploitation or if some rich guys with legal knowledge were so pissed off by this that they set up the store to invite attention to get parody law changed (sort of like the Orchid Hunter in Adaptation).

I'm almost positive this is for the new season of Nathan For You. They were giving away the coffee for free so it should still fall under fair usage.

A parody would be if they named their shop "Starbuckshot" with brown colors and a indian logo. This is damn near fraud. Still funny tho.

Should have went with this

I would not give this establishment my business if I was local.

I get that it's legal, but it's a pretty shitty thing to do, especially since they say they're fans of Starbucks and look up to them.

They have no chance in hell of winning this. By the way they casually say "parody law" as a reason they are allowed to do this shows that they have no clue what they are talking about and did not even do a basic Google search for the federal copyright/trademark laws or any respective judicial opinions or articles or anything...which are very easy to find.
I wrote a paper in law school about this exact topic and you don't have to be a legal scholar to know this ain't gonna fly.

I just opened it to launder some money...so mind your own business, dumb dumb

Has anyone in LA tried this? I'm not leaving the westside just to wait in line in Los Feliz
