what's wrong with saying 'a proper overhand right'?
That was a little weird. I had to read it three times to pick up the difference.
My point is that what most people in mma do is a haymaker not an overhand. Throwing a punch over the top doesn't make it an overhand. The over hand is designed to go over the guard of an opponent, so it loops up and over. The knuckles turn over and the elbow raises so the striking knuckles and wrist are inline with the forearm. It is a much more solid punch than an overhanded haymaker.
