Drinking Culture sucks...

So what is drinking culture? in a way to me is people that constantly look forward to the weekends or the end of the day to start drinking and "get smashed", they do it as a habit and is something that they are very proud of for some reason.

I have SEVERAL reasons as to why I don't approve, for starters, alcohol is bad for the body, period. Also if you drink too much, you will have a hangover the next morning, it can put you in really bad situations (bar fights, DUI etc). Now don't get me wrong I was part of this culture around my 19 to 21 year old era, but that was it, I grew out of it and when I see people that are way past that age range, and still embrace drinking all the time, I find it a lack of love for yourself, your body, and mind.

Today I went to a medical marijuana dispensary the girl that helped me was this overweight and not attractive at all budtender, I strike up a conversation with her (because I'm the type of guy that talks to anyone) and she is telling me she is going to this restaurant after her shift to "get smashed" when she gets off, she then proceeds to ask me if I was going (translation= why don't we meet over there) I politely said "no I'm not going there" then she starts talking about how she gets kick out of that place all the time etc (approval seeking behavior) she is trying to appeal to me about how much fun she is, and at this point I'm thinking "this chick is completely out of touch with reality, she looks awful, and is doing some of the same stuff that caused her to look like that in the first place" I left the clinic and thought to myself, people that drink all the time for the most part suck!

I know this may ring a few bells for some of you, but that's my take on people that are obsessed with drinking.

The same can be said for pot heads dude. While I agree with the legalization of weed Pot culture is just as irritating. People act like it's this end all be all herb when 99% of the people that do it just smoke to be put into a fog. I was a daily smoker in highschool up until I was about 21 or 22, but I just grew out of it.

I like to drink on the weekends, but I very rarely go to the bar. Yes there are times I wish I wouldn't do it, but overall I enjoy it. I also don't brag about it as (like being a pot head) it can be chalked up to a character flaw.

I'll take a toke here and there, maybe a few times a year and even keep a bag of weed around the house for company, so I'm not anti marijuana, but If you like to blaze you have no right to judge people that like to drink.

I am not a 20 something year old that looks like they are in their 40's. I'm a 30 year old that looks on his 20's yes I'll contemplate others, besides you don't know what I did.

Back when i started my craft beer journey, i was building up a good tolerance. But as i narrowed down favorites, i just stick with those. And no way i can drink 5 solid brews in one sitting without falling over now. If i drink more than 3 in one sitting, i gotta space them out.

I can pound them back in impressive fashion. The 12 pack typically lasts 6-7 hours. I start fast and finish slow. I can out drink most, easily. Mind you that's the typical night. The rare party mode version of me is downright scary.

Edit: And I'm with you. I used to be super into craft beer but basically narrowed it down to "Dale's is my favorite, that's what I'm drinking." I might try to branch out and try some new stouts this winter.

Again, I'm all about balance, if you are gonna drink, take care of yourself, if you are going to smoke do the same. I have this idea that I idea that I will outlive everyone I know because I take great care of myself, most drinkers don't.

have you tried deviant dales? i saw it one time in the single bin at whole foods and didn't get it because i thought i could pick it up another time. Haven't seen it since, sumbitch is 8%.
 
You know what I've noticed about most people my age (35+) that drink? Most of the time, it has to do with being outside. I can't remember the last time that I've started drinking beer indoors. It's normally outside doing yardwork, cooking out, or golfing. My neighbor seems to be the same way. We actually drink a lot less in the winter.

I'm not upset at that, I'm upset at the mentality "I'm getting smashed" then "I'm prob gonna get kicked out again, I'm so cool" what type of life is that?
Excessive alcohol is for depressed people, you sound like one of them for defending it

Not as much anymore, pretty lax now..

I probably use more edibles then anything, but even that is at a low usage.. so I guess you could say my liver still has to put in some work with the gummies.
 
Seems weird that TS only associates drinking with getting shitfaced at a bar.

I would consider drinking culture to be closer to going to a local brewery and having a beer or two rather than going to a club and getting shit faced off of cheap swill.

Is that a goal of yours? To outlive everyone you know? Not much of a goal. Quite depressing actually.
