Dragonlord's 2015 Movie Guide

Saw San Andreas this weekend. I enjoyed it. It had great suspense and some pretty emotional scenes. I thought it was better than 2012 and Day After Tomorrow.

Rock was solid. Carla Gugino was a bad-ass. Paul Giamatti over acted a little but was good. The visuals were top notch. Just an entertaining movie.

I dont think it will get the best reviews but it was fun. Really, the suspense is worth giving it a watch.

Thanks. Might watch it later.

Aloha was the biggest waste of talent in film in quite some time

Even though the reviews for San Andreas aren't that good, I'm a sucker for epic disaster films and kinda want to watch this film on the big screen.

Try googling or downloading True Detective episode 2 and thank me later. :)

Googled, and came across some spectacular gifs of Daddario. I've never watched True Detective but those gifs are very convincing to give it a watch.

Saw Aloha and read reviews and some are so far off the mark ant things. It's not a good movie but the things they pick at are strange.

Emma Stone plays a character that says she's a quarter Hawaiian. I read an entire article talking about how that's but believe. But every character in the film acts like they don't believe it. No one calls her out on it, but the casting of Emma Stone and the prior casting of Reese Witherspoon it's clear the intent.

I read one saying the satellite weapon didn't make sense. It did, but the music upload didn't make sense. The gate made no sense.

Another article griped that flirting involving a married person makes both people less likeable. But it's just real. If a major love in your life marries someone else and you run into them it's hard to not have a flirtatious interaction.

It was a weird movie because the actors nailed their parts, including Murray. But it didn't amount to anything.

AGE OF ULTRON Becomes 5th Film in History to Cross $900M

Avengers-Ultron-Cap-Shield-Dragonlord.jpg

Disney/Marvel’s Avengers: Age Of Ultron international box office today becomes the 5th title in history to surpass the $900M mark internationally. This comes after we reported yesterday that the superhero cluster flick had tallied up just over $895M after this past weekend, which put it toe-to-toe international total of Marvel’s The Avengers.

The other films that have also crossed the $900M threshold are Furious 7 ($1.15B and running this year), Titanic ($1.52B in 1997), Avatar ($2B in 2009), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 ($960M in 2011).

The film, which is still playing in 91 territories, has a whopping worldwide gross of $1.327B. It currently ranks as the No. 6 film of all time globally. It is currently at $428.6M domestically and $899.3M right now.

The film’s top international market is China with $229.1M, followed by Korea which took in $82.1M as of yesterday, the UK ($71.9M), Mexico ($49.9M) and Brazil ($46.6M). Japan will be the last international territory for Ultron on July 4.

SAN ANDREAS - 5/10

The earthquake scenes were repetitive and lost its impact later on. That's why the tsunami was a nice change of pace. Low point is having to endure The Rock and Carla Gugino together when they have this little quiet intimate moments. For some reason, Gugino had this annoying smug face look throughout the film. Alexandra Daddario was smoking hot, especially in the pool scene at the beginning. Anyway, the special effects were great but San Andreas wasn't as entertaining as previous disaster flicks like 2012 or The Day After Tomorrow.

lol i remember reading about how bad the Aloha script was years ago.

Spy seems like a pretty big ripoff the Get Smart movie from everything I've read

San Andreas Rock's daugther was uber hawt

I just watched it 2hrs ago, and at first I found her eyes to be really pretty that's all. But as the movies goes on, she got hotter and hotter by the minute, not sure why it didn't occur to me at the beginning. Probably because I noticed her nice racks only later.

Just googled True Detective, will watch. :D

EDIT:
Also I would rate the movie 7.5/10, it's actually pretty good for me. Kept us on the edge the very minute the film started. Yes, the quakes are a little repetitive but other than that, it's good. Corny jokes were in the appropriate amount, unlike those Marvel movies. Character backstories weren't too long to bore us nor too short to make us forget them.

Storyline is pretty typical for a disaster/daddy saves the day again type of movies but I see nothing wrong with these occasionally.

I had no awareness of the Brian Wilson movie at all until I started seeing the TV spots. Looks good. Glad to see the reviews are positive as well, I'll check it out down the line.

Friday Box Office:

INSIDIOUS 3 Edges Out SPY; ENTOURAGE Loses Steam

Insidious-Chapter-3--060615-Dragonlord.jpg

It was a photo finish for the top two box office draws on Friday. Based on studio estimates, Insidious Chapter 3 came out on top with $10.4 million from 3,002 locations. But Spy, the latest R-rated comedy starring Mellissa McCarthy and directed by Paul Feig was not far behind with $10.25 million from 3,711 locations.

In terms of the weekend race, Spy is expected to pull ahead by a significant margin. The R-rated comedy should bring in at least $32 million through Sunday: in-between the $26.2 million debut of Bridesmaids and the $39 million of 2013

SPY Wins Crowded Race With $30 Million; ENTOURAGE Stalls

Spy-McCarthy-Law-Dragonlord.jpg

In an R-rated comedy showdown, Melissa McCarthy's James Bond spoof Spy won the crowded race at the North American box office with $30 million, while Entourage failed to revive the glory days of the hit HBO series.

Coming in a distant No. 4, Entourage earned $10.4 million for the weekend, putting its five-day launch at $17.8 million. While the big-screen adaptation of the hit HBO television series wasn't expensive, Warner Bros. and HBO Films were hoping for at least $20 million and that the movie version would introduce a new generation of consumers to the franchise, versus just appealing to diehard fans of the show.

Spy is another solid hit for director Paul Feig, although it came in somewhat behind expectations (most thought it would hit $35 million). The 20th Century Fox film boasts an ensemble cast that stars McCarthy opposite Jason Statham, Rose Byrne and Jude Law. Costing $65 million, the comedy was embraced by critics, while earning a B+ CinemaScore from audiences.

Holdover San Andreas, the earthquake disaster film starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, continued to be a force of nature in its second outing, coming in No. 2 in North America with $26.4 million for a domestic total of $99.1 million.

The weekend's third new offering after Spy and Entourage was Insidious: Chapter 3, which placed No. 3 with a solid $23 million. Overall, North American box office revenue was down for the third weekend in a row, but Jurassic World should boost the bottom line next weekend.

insidious le sucks, then it got dumb as it goes on. Teen girl was cute tho.

I miss horror flicks like ju-on and the others.

horror flicks now = crabcore/metalcore

San Andreas was a mess. It stole such a huge chunk of plot from 2012. A dad that operates a vehicle for a living is separated from his wife. Mom wound up with a rich guy. Dad saves mom and offspring. Rich guy proves to be selfish. Mom and dad get back together.

No one listens to the scientist type that sees it all coming.

Most performances were bad except the slightly more than adequate Olly. Hope no one learns first aid watching this...

Spy-McCarthy-Law-Dragonlord.jpg
I think McCarthy does very well with a PARENT TRAP / KISSING COUSINS type film, in which she plays two different characters. She's at her funniest when she gets to do kooky supporting characters, but her cachet suggests a leading woman status that requires a certain level of "mundane" likeability. SPY's an excellent vehicle for her.
