Multiplat Dragon Age: The Veilguard

The character creation is not great and the art style is weird. The initial 5 min scene felt like a MCU movie.

As long as the gameplay is fun I won’t complain much but the visuals are a bit jarring ngl. Looks like I’m on Fortnite or something

Idk if I replied again in this thread but wanted to follow up to myself and say that I tried to play it a few times and stopped. Game isn’t bad or anything but it does not feel like dragon age at all not just from combat/gameplay but all around. And besides all that it just feels very bland.

This is the first Mass Effect/Dragkn Age main game I have not completed (completely skipped DA2 but just because of timing reasons never got to it). I really liked Andromeda and Inquisition I had no issues at all completing those games and had great times with them and felt both (more so Andromeda) got a bit unfairly bashed. Veil guard though…. It’s just completely forgettable and not fun. It’s very weird but I just can’t get myself to even blast through the game.

Disappointed and worried about Mass Effect 4 now lol

Bullshit, I’m enjoying the game plenty and I’ve experienced no trans propaganda. Is it my favorite game of the year? Not even close but if I had to rate it would be around 7.5 which is still a good game.

Chill out for two secs.
My reply was obviously mocking the post I was quoting with the braindead take of 'the negative critics probably didn't even play the game.'
Which was an opinion without any evidence that 'I bet alot of the critics who have a negative opinion of Veilguard probably didn't put time into it.'

I mockingly pointed out that critics that wrote positive reviews probably didn't even 'put time into it.'

But my opinion actually has historical president, with games journalist being fucking horrible at playing games and have been unofficial publisher mouthpieces.

As for you, point out to me where in this thread I've said 'Don't buy Veilguard, it's woke.'
I'm supposing you bought it with money you've earned and you have the right to spend it however you like on whatever you like, and I'm glad you enjoyed it.

In fact never have I ever spoken out against gamers in my long history in The Arcade.
I've spoken out against Gaming Publishers/Developers (individuals, not teams) inserting modern social agendas infecting modern games, and Publication-Affiliated Gaming Journalists who are cheap propaganda mouthpieces for the Publishers/Developers.

I had a blast fucking shit up in Andromeda. I just wish they didn't bury a bunch of species in DLC that never came out. Jaal never got to experience Elcor Hamlet. Also, the stuff with your parents should have been folded into the main story more. Bunch of fetch quests that if you don't do, you miss a big reveal was dumb.

I don't disagree with this generally but I do disagree with people who try to tell me people on YouTube preaching what that think well get them views are any better. They want views for money, they aren't trying to do anything for the good of society.

The politics don't matter, if you made a game pushed to be conservative, the same shit would happen just with different people.

And gaming journalism is bullshit. If a website is equal parts affiliate link articles and poorly written reviews, which is basically all gaming sites now, it's not a source of information to be trusted.

I bet alot of the positive reviews, didn't put time into the game, or were you standard trans-propaganda they have things like the same things that were in Baldur's Gate 3. It's a game about picking your pronouns. Let them be promote the agenda they want gamers to pay to be indoctrinated.
It goes both ways. I don't think they need to shove social commentary down our throats, but I actually thought they did it pretty well. The non-binary character had one of the better stories in the game. I hate when a game/movie/show gets bashed, and people base that off what others have told them, rather than giving something a chance and making up your own mind. I had no motivation to play this game, after I started seeing the reviews, but I decided to power through it because I had invested the time in the previous games. I'm glad I did, it wasn't as good as the original Dragon Age was story-wise, but it was a fun game, that is getting reviewed bombed in my opinion. It was a 7/10, not an amazing game, but not a dumpster fire.

YouTubers reputations are dependent on one thing - credibility based on honest opinions.

And I think you're vastly overestimating what they are paid for videos.

As for 'they aren't trying to do anything for the good of society'..... should they? Is society their responsibility? And is that what 'woke' game developers are doing? Trying to impliment messages into their products that are 'good for society?'

I don't want games to be pushed to be conservative.
My four favorite games of the last 15 years are Mass Effect 2, TLoU, Witcher3, and Cyberpunk2077.
A conservative-propaganda agenda within the development of each game would have destroyed them.

100% agreed.

I don't know why people are saying the game looks great, the art style is awful compared to the previous game. They went Fortnite.
Did you actually play the game though? Because overall, Inquisition doesn't strike me as having a particularly more adult art direction than this game. It's kind of a mixed bag, some levels are very bright and colorful, while other area's like the Hossberg Wetlands (or basically any area with the Darkspawn) looks what you'd want from the franchise. Some of the companions like Emmerich and Bellera tone and looks-wise definitely feel like they're fallen out of some kind of Disney franchise.

Warning : Possible spoilers in pics. Last pic is from Inquisition.

It looks way better on the TV when you're actually playing it. I had this same criticism too until I bought it.

Corinne Busche, who served as game director of Dragon Age: The Veilguard since February 2022, is departing BioWare.

Whispers of her exit began circulating online last night, and were first confirmed by journalist Jeff Grubb. Eurogamer can also confirm Busche will depart BioWare in the coming weeks.

Eurogamer understands BioWare itself is otherwise unaffected by any other changes, contrary to rumour.

I got the platinum not too long ago. I thought the game was okay overall, it wasn't amazing but it's far from the disaster so many make it out to be. I'd give it a 6.5 or 7 out of 10.

Pros +

Well made technically, there are almost no bugs and it runs pretty much flawlessly.

Gorgeous visuals

Emmerich is a great character and his little companion Manfred

Combat can be enjoyable although it did start to get old eventually

Great ending, the last few chapters were well done.

Cons -

Romance feels very forced and I think it should have just been removed from the game. It's more like a friendship

Lacks RPG mechanics. It reminds me of FFXVI in this way, they took a lot of stuff out from the other games. However, FFXVI was a much better game imo because it had better moments and characters.

Too easy? I feel like once you hit level 30 the game because a bit easy. I know you can change difficulty but normal mode should never feel this easy.

Taash is a fucking terrible character. Insufferable cunt lol. I'm sorry to say that but honestly she is such a bitch to everyone and yet whines when you don't use her pronouns correctly. Man, I think the antiwoke might have a point about the preachy stuff. They couldn't make this character nice at least? I almost wish there was an option to intentionally misgender this character that would lead to a duel. That would have been funny. In fact, that's my other big negative is that you can't be evil. Every option makes you the nice guy. We need more games where you can just be a prick to people with crappy personalities like that. Early on you visit a town that's been infected and you can choose whether to save the person. I thought to myself "awesome, maybe they will have evil choices" but that's like the only point in the game you can make a decision like that.
