Don't compare Conor Mcgregor to BJ Penn until Conor wins a Welterweight championship.

For claiming to be such a history buff, TS doesn't seem to know how BJ's career panned out. He failed to capture the LW belt twice, hence why he moved up to WW to fight Hughes. He couldn't win gold at LW and so tried at WW.

Conor swept through FW, slept the FW champ in record breaking time, and then moved up to win his second belt. He didn't move up after he couldn't win gold at his weight class. He was already a champion looking for the next challenge.

BJ beating Hughes was indeed a legendary moment in the sport, but you're talking out of your ass.

Of the great fighters in that era

Chuck
Fedor
Hughes
GSP
Rampage
Shogun
Anderson
Wandy
Hendo etc..

BJ is second tier and it is not even close. He was insanely inconsistent.. A career defined by what people said he was capable of doing. Versus what he actually DID..

Both guys have bad cardio.. Who gasses out first? Conor is a better striker. BJ obviously has the ground game, BUT I doubt he would use it. He would want to box Conor..

BJ doesn't have bad cardio. He gassed fighting much larger fighters. Conor gassed punching Nate.

Conor would gas trying to knock BJ out, and that would have been the ball game.

Not great results at all. Record means nothing?????

Never had a dominant run in any class. Bounced around way too much. Lost a lot and I mean a lot of big fights..

0-3 Versus Frankie, 2 came in his prime..
0-2 with GSP, the 2nd a total beating..
Draw against Fitch, got his ass kicked in honesty..
Rory whooped his ass..
2-1 against Hughes is his best achievement...
funny 7 of those mentioned fights were above his weightclass.

arguably beat gsp the first time, had a good fight vs fitch too.

BJ has terrible cardio.. Nick Diaz he was gassed out after 1 round.. Nick mauled him..

Don't compare BJ to Conor until he wins a FW belt. LMAO

BJ fought in the prehistoric era. No where near Conor.
you are a fucking idiot.

congratulations.

were you the result of your dad banging your sister?

but judging a fight on a 3 round basis he won.

so....

you cant judge a fight on the last round, thats ridiculous.

I would have to go back and watch it again.. My memory of that fight, is Fitch getting on top of BJ and beating the shit out of him for 5 minutes in round 3.. BJ was so gassed out and beat up, he was leaning on Rogan and unable to give more than 1 word answers..

Until Conor wins the welterweight championship, dont even mention him in the same breath you say the name BJ Penn.

This is a grossly made up standard for "comparing" greats.

Conor vs Khabib is actually the equivalent of BJ jumping up to welterweight and facing Hughes.

It's analogous. But is it comparable? It's definitely not "equivalent".

And we all know who beat who and who lost to who.

And?

PS this isnt 2007 anymore. This is WORSE than MMAmath.

lol, you can't even argue who has better BJJ? Does BJ Penn have gyms all over America like Eddie Bravo does with his 10th Planet Jujitsu? Nope.

BJ Penn is like the old school version of Aaron Pico. Both got the best trainers while they grew up.

You went right past full retard and straight to potato.

BJ Penn is a legend. He is a pioneer of the lower weight classes
1st American to win gold at the Mundials(most prestigious BJJ tournament).
His pedigree in BJJ is equal or surpasses Bravo. Bravo opens a bunch of
gyms and you say he is better at BJJ??

You’re right, there’s no point comparing them, cause McGregor is in a different stratosphere to Penn skill wise, and I’m a big Penn fan.

Im sick of seeing these comparisons thrown around aswell as 'who would beat who' for bj vs conor.

Until Conor wins the welterweight championship, dont even mention him in the same breath you say the name BJ Penn.

The real time Conor jumped up and faced anyone who was Matt Hughes quality, minus the defences, but skillwise to say the least, he got fucking smashed and emasculated and was tapping in seconds once that choke was sunk.

Conor vs Khabib is actually the equivalent of BJ jumping up to welterweight and facing Hughes.

And we all know who beat who and who lost to who.

Im with this dude.

Penn got lucky against Matt—the rematch established this.

Khabib was clearly better than Conor and didn’t win because of a fluke (at this time, there is no reason to think it was a fluke).

There is no comparison.
