No it isn't. It's not remotely close. There are no blatantly suspicious circumstances surrounding the call(except for the ones in your head), like there was with Clinton's meeting. Unorthodox perhaps, but no clear agenda to it. At least not the one you're hinting at.

Like I said, Trump has businesses in 25 countries around the world. Are you going to play this card every time he has a meeting, or conference with the leaders of those countries? There was the option of using a blind trust and even if he wanted to give it to his kids, he could had distanced his kids from the transition team, or simply dont make direct calls to leaders where your kids are doing business and specially dont have your kids join the conversation.

China lodges formal complaint with US over Donald Trump's call with president of Taiwan

Beijing has lodged a protest with the United States over a call between US President-elect Donald Trump and Taiwanese leader Tsai Ing-wen, the foreign ministry said Saturday.

"We have already made solemn representations about it to the relevant US side. It must be pointed out that there is only one China in the world. Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory," the statement said.

"We urge the relevant parties in the US to abide by the commitment to the one-China policy" and "to handle Taiwan-related issues with caution and care to avoid unnecessarily interfering with the overall situation of Sino-US relations," it said.

"The President of Taiwan CALLED ME today to wish me congratulations on winning the Presidency. Thank you!" Mr Trump wrote.

An hour later, he again took to Twitter to respond to the reaction the call had generated. "Interesting how the US sells Taiwan billions of dollars of military equipment but I should not accept a congratulatory call."

The Trump transition team official said: "During the discussion, they noted the close economic, political, and security ties exists between Taiwan and the United States. President-elect Trump also congratulated President Tsai on becoming President of Taiwan earlier this year."

Who arranged the call?
Another Trump spokesman said the president-elect was "well aware of what US policy has been" on Taiwan.

While Mr Trump insisted it was Mrs Tsai who called him, the Taipei Times, citing sources, said the call had been arranged by Mr Trump's "Taiwan-friendly campaign staff after his aides briefed him on issues regarding Taiwan and the situation in the Taiwan Strait".

USA has long had a defense agreement Taiwan.
The Republican Party Platform states a hard line supporting Taiwan.
The US State Department repeatedly states its support of Taiwan (not formally recognizing Chinese sovereignty over Taiwan)
Yet, it is a phone call that is causing a great rift. Sure.

• Trump having businesses in key places around the world is incentive to maintain that open trade the democrats warn is so vital.
