The question was a bit broad... what role does a government play with it's people? Philosophically speaking. I think as a people we trust each other more then the government. Why do we give them so much control then?

This is hilarious. Trumps lawyer tried to use the secret service as an excuse for the don Jr meeting to happen. Like they gave the okay. They clapped back and said they never did because he wasn't under their protection. Why do these guys lie about shit that's so easily proven false?

I think the government has very specific roles that it likes to step out of. Things like foreign trade, relations, military. Things demanded of them by the constitution. My taxes should go to those things, not little suzies birth control

This thread is sad because of posts like these.
I haven't been participating in this discussion as I have been away on vacation and I really haven't had time, but I have checked in periodically as this whole thing has unfolded.
To address this poster- Trump Jr. met with a team of Russians representing Russian government in the hopes of getting intel (dirt, most likely obtained illegally through espionage) on Clinton. During the meeting the team of Russians provided a folder with intel and asked about having sanctions the Mginstsky sanctions being removed.
This is a classic conspiracy. All of this information is available to the public, and Trump Jr. himself published the e-mails where this meeting/arrangement was discussed.
I don't know if you or the others still saying there was nothing to this meeting are playing devil's advocate, trolling, uninformed or really just that dumb. It's just SAD SAD SAD

If something does come of this, a large minority in this country are going off the deep end...think something akin to what pro lifers do in extreme cases at abortion clinics, only on a much wider scale. The divide in the country is that bad.

Credit to the NYT for forcing this information out; you can damned well know this meeting would've stayed a secret otherwise.
Not even six months into this administration, and they've essentially admitted to colluding with foreign agents to swing an American election.
