Crime Donald Trump Hush Money Fraud Trial (5/30 Update: Trump Found Guilty on All 34 Felony Charges)

Let's not forget that no one went to prison for the Vietnam war of which was not only not approved by Congress, but was escalated due to a false flag.(Gulf of Tonkin) But you guys will eat up anything and everything served by the state.

Let's not get it twisted, Trump is a criminal. He's committed financial crimes and his assassination of Soleimani was an illegal act of war. But he's not being gone after for that, he's being gone after because he's a political enemy of the state. Politically based prosecutions are the hallmark of the 3rd world and Communist dictatorships.
But what about Vietnam!

Presidents are Commanders-In-Chief of the military. It would be very unlikely to see a former POTUS charged for something like ordering air strikes.

Hatching a multi-state scheme to illegally toss tens of thousands of Americans’ votes, on the other hand, is nowhere near arguable as an official duty. Ditto for falsifying business records to influence an election, stealing boxes and boxes of documents, and so on.

This entire “Trump won’t bow to the Deep State/Elites/Weaponized Whomever” is a myth. It is a coping mechanism for people who can’t bear to face the truth, which is that Trump stands apart from his peers in his sheer corruption and criminality.
“He won’t bow” “He won’t play their game” … all code for he’ll lie, cheat, and steal to benefit himself.

No shrugging from me. This was fantastic, and significant. It's funny, because I was just earlier today thinking about all the cases against him and how they were going to pan out. Didn't expect a verdict today.
I feel like it's kind of a sad day. Like, it's good that rule of law was upheld, but it still sucks that a former president is a felon. We just never should have allowed a guy like that to get to the position he did.

Sitting in my office crying loudly and not answering my phone because nobody wants to let a racist game show host commit crimes with impunity

Except the Republicans have better options than Trump. Most countries seem to be going to a lose lose dynamics in elections as left and right have gone too far and moderates tend to hate both options.

I may be a Canadian but I think Trump vs Biden is lose lose. Just like I think our upcoming Trudeau vs Pollievier is lose lose.

Republicans do have better options, but none of them have anywhere near Trump's popularity. Although I'm not thrilled about Trump vs Biden part 2, I don't really see it as a lose lose. Nothing is worse than Biden getting reelected.

I prefer the inverse way of looking at it, namely that the sad days were those he was getting away with it, with this being the turning point. You've said before that an election isn't like a chess match, so a corollary is that it's not like a strategy game between non-Trump voting Americans and him: you didn't "allow" him to become President in any meaningful way. Would you have blamed yourself in 1939 for Hitler?

Everyone at this level is a criminal. Barack Obama and George Bush are objectively war criminals. Pretty much all of Congress insider trades. Trump wasn't prosecuted in the name of justice, but because he made enemies of the wrong people

Why do people continue to defend this guy with this sort of “reasoning”? Bush and Obama were serving as president of the USA. It’s been 10-15 years since they were in office and no criminal charges have been brought against either. Trump, in contrast, has been playing fast and loose with the rules all his adult life, in service of himself and only himself. What he did was selfish, wrong, and illegal. Why would anyone defend this man?

So as a convicted felon, Trump couldn’t get a job at Mcdonalds if he wanted to, yet there’s a chance he could be president again.
He became president with zero political experience. President of the USA is an insanely low bar these days
