Media Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone back in testing pool, may make return to MMA at 185

Donald was Tony Ferguson's last win if that's not enough to convince anyone he should stay retired then I don't know what is.
To be fair... that was before Tony spent five rounds being punched in the face by Justin; He was just never the same after taking that beating.

hard to say because he went all three rounds with Oliveira and Dariush after that. Then he got front kicked in the face and knocked dead by Chandler and finished by submissions in the next three of four fights. So not that easy to pinpoint the exact point of the decline.

Most of the Oliveira and Dariush fights were on the ground though.

Every time he stands and exchanges strikes after the Justin fight, he has looked absolutely terrible.

Top 10 favorite fighter of all time. Sadly he is gonna get ko so bad at 185. Him against Paulo. He is super ripped now too.

fair enough and I can't remember every round of those fights just that he didn't get finished. Paddy damn near had him out of there too but blew his wad trying finish. Tough watching him wince every time a jab is thrown his way.

I'm convinced that those shots by Justin did some serious, lasting neurological damage to Tony, just look at the way the fight finished... like Tony's brain just malfunctioned there, from all the concussive trauma.

Pretty sure that night took years off his life :(

You are probably right career altering beatings are one helluva drug. Begs the question is it better to just get KOed or take a sustaind beating. Unfortunately Justin experienced both in one fight against Max.

It is still crazy to me the beating Max put on Calvin Kattar then Clavin came back and did the same thing putting a hellacious beating on Giga Chikadze. I thought Calvin was done after that beating for sure like just like Tony.

I don't think Justin too all that much damage against Max prior to the KO, it was all about being fucked up by the kick to the face in the last couple of seconds of the first. Who knows what would have happened had that shot not landed?

Yep, hell of a comeback by Calvin, sure put an immediate stop to the Giga hype train.

I believe the science backs up the idea that a singular concussive blow is better than multiple lesser concussive blows. The assumption is that when your brain shuts off during a knockout, it’s a preservation mechanism.

It is interesting that a guy known for his "cracked chin," like Overeem, seems relatively cogent these days. It might have saved his brain that it was quick to shut off after a hit.

I guess you just want to argue

<36>

Justin landed very little offense in that fight at all. Max picked him apart the entire time. Can't go back and say well if this didn't happen you go by what did happen.

I'm not saying that he didn't get comprehensively outstruck, I'm just saying that he didn't take a lot of damage aside from those two shots. Max is a volume striker, not a big hitter, which was what made the ending, all the more shocking.

so they allow retire and openly juice? guy was on roids even he admitted it, didn't he?

edit: actually I don't even care why am I being the fucking juice police, let em juice, it's better
I only like the edit! 🤝
