The last event did not even come close to selling out the arena, so they need to increase the star power, Holm vs Correira was close until the KO but i wouldnt describe such a low-action fight as "competitive". All the recognizable names on the last card were on actual losing streaks.
I would agree that the entertainment value doesn't just depend on the rankings and name value, but you have to recognize also that high stakes increases the entertainment value in a way
It seems like UFC is not taking the Asian market seriously.
The last time they tried to hold an event in Manilla, there was only one recognisable name (BJ Penn) and when he pulled out the whole card was scrapped.
Bad luck you might say, but it was reported that they had only sold 3000 tickets for the 16000 seat venue when the event was scrapped.
Southeast Asia is RIPE for UFC to come in and take over. ONE championship sells out both the Manilla and Singapore arenas multiple times every year and they have nowhere near the depth of the UFCs roster, they just know how the audiences better.
