The last of my pack of dogs died on Monday. My house feels empty now. I immediately went out to get new dogs but there were none that I really clicked with. This sucks, mainly because I don't have anywhere to share this but here...

Sorry for your loss, sherbro.
I know that suddenly empty feeling when your dogs pass all too well. I've been unable to pull the trigger on a new pup for over a year.

I've been going back and forth between Australian Cattle Dogs (Blue Heeler) and South African Mastiffs (Boerboel).

Again condolences, and good luck in your search.

All the pups around here are little designer dogs. It's crazy, I want a dog, not a purse accessory.

I have an English bull terrier he's awesome and very active make sure you have plenty of time to spend with him

Sounds like it might be best for you to be without one for a time. Shed the feelings of dependency.

Then think about getting another.

That said, I'm sorry to hear about you losing your homies. But remember....

I'd put in a google search. Maybe a 100 mile radius to see what might be available a little outside your range.

I have, but 100 miles gives me San Diego and LA. The world capital of douches that like teacup doll sized dogs.

I've got an English lab, hes great. Theyre widely available, inexpensive, generally healthy with good temperament. Very common though.

Both cool dogs, from my personal experience though heelers are the breed ive bonded with the most

You just have to grab a dog and go.

Trust me, you'll bond with the dog after a day.

Right now I'm mostly waiting for my schedule to settle. Once I know I can dedicate the proper time (to either breed) I'll make a decision and pull the trigger. My last 2 dogs were French Mastiffs and one was a rescue. I feel I need a puppy this time so the timing needs to be perfect (I'll probably get 2 heelers or 1 Boerboel)

What breeds have you had in the past?

Another breed I find fascinating, but not necessarily one on my radar, is the Belgian Malinois.
The silver/blue coloring (rare as far as I can tell) are amazing.

Have you looked at rescuing a greyhound? That will probably be my next dog. I have a white Shepard now and she's awesome

That's quite the difference in size. @PrinceOfPain has a Boerboel.

I feel for ya TSO. Losing your buddies sucks.

That looks like a cool dog. All I've had so far are terriers.
