Spoken with a true misunderstanding of foreign politics. People tend to only think about what is happening and never really consider the alternatives.

The US and other countries froze the Taliban's assets. However, the US and other countries don't want to excessively punish the Afghani people. So, they freeze the assets but provide aid that can be used in specific ways. This buys us influence over the Taliban government, even while we're restricting their freedom to operate independently. If we completely cut them off, the Taliban government has no reason to regulate their actions, they'll be forced to do anything they can to become economically sustainable. Which is far worse.

This approach manages that. They get enough money to meet some of their needs but not enough to operate at strength. They must now look to us for the aid that they need to stay in power. This allows us to get certain concessions. Sure, they're not giving up certain hardline Islamic positions but they never were and only an idiotic negotiator would think they would.

Foreign policy is a lot more complicated than the superficial videos most of you post.
