Dog meat: There are countries that eat it !

its the rarest meat you will find anywhere in korea. its propaganda when you hear like everyone eats it and its everywhere. its actually pretty darn hard to find it especially in seoul
They got westernized too quickly. I remember reading about the SK govnt having to ban the sale of pet meats when they hosted the olympics. And that was just a generation ago.

Statistically, the number of poor old people has only been increasing for thousands of years.

There has definitely never been a time in recorded history when there were no poor old people.

i mean anyone older than 50

once those people died then exception the people from china its like going to die down a lot, but unfortunately again for dogs, poor chinese people are like our #1 immigrant. over 2 million legal status chinese there now and quickly increasing. poor dogs.:(

Here's my thing; I love my dog, a vizsla. I couldn't imagine there are people that eat dogs. But my grandmother is a proud Hindu woman who can't fathom how we here in the US raise cows for slaughter since cows are revered animals in India.

Is it relative or is it really messed up to eat dogs ?

I think dogs are different than fish or chicken or cows; they are highly intelligent and capable of love. My dog is a member of my family, I love her and protect her. I think it's fair to see dogs as more than other animals.
Pigs are very intelligent animals and make great pets or domesticated farm animals. We still eat the shit out of those fuckers. That said, dogs probably not nearly as tasty.

If you eat meat than you can't really talk. Just everyone become vegetarians/vegans problem solved.

Please let it be a chihuahua since I consider those things to be more like rats more than dogs.

its a fairly medium fawn colored dog with a black muzzle. honestly it would be better for dogs to go extinct in korea. even people who have them as pets dont always treat them so well. you see these dogs tied up on 2 feet of chain their entire life. its honestly very depressing for any dog that isnt a 5 pound 200 dollar rich fad purse dog. and even those, who knows what happens when people get bored of them.

horsemeat should be legal in US.

You were trolling hard in the last animal morality thread I saw you in, but this is exactly right. Almost everyone loves to eat pig, and they have every bit of intelligence and emotion that a dog does and more. There's definitely hypocrisy on a large scale. Dogs were important allies in human development though. Where pigs have always been preyed upon, dogs have been an extension of man since a time we weren't alone at the top. They may be our ally, but the pig suffers just as much.

Yea, that's probably why horses get a pass, too, at least here in the US. I'd at least try dog if it was offered and I'll definitely eat horse with no qualms.

Lol funny that you tagged me and banchan @loyalyolayal . I’ve had dog meat more than once. Usually my grandmother would get some from a market and cook up a stew for me. Maybe once every few months. She also had a pet dog who she loved to death but she would still eat dog meat. I guess its no different from people who have pet fish and still eat fish. One thing people should know about eating dog in Korea is that it’s not all that common nowadays. Its harder to find restaurants that serve it and many younger people have never eaten it. I know people my age who think I’m weird for having had it.

I love dogs and have a dog, but the fact that the meat is coming from a dog makes no difference. It’s an animal, and it’s dead. My main qualms with dog (and cat) meat (in Korea anyway) is how they are treated. They are usually raised in horrible conditions with no oversight or regulation, but I guess it’s no different from how cows, pigs, and chickens are raised in factory farms in the US.

I hear old people eatcat but not the same extent. I haven’t had it though.

Pretty much my take on the matter.

unfortunately for dogs old people in korea been living a long time. you typically only see people who knew starvation in their time thinking nothing wrong with eating dog. and even so this tends to be more rural minded thing. there are lots of people from rural parts of the country working in seoul and also rural people from china that i can see buying it but im saying this very honestly the vast majority of urban koreans frown on eating dogs and its very rare to even find it there.
Korea < rest of world. :(

steve korean dogs are not as obedient. sometimes they listen sometimes the dont. somestimes they bite sometimes they dont. theyre not as easy for people to raise as obedient house pets so they put them outside on short chains. native dogs in domestication are more often than not better off not kept at all. theres no need for you to make off hand remarks.

We got a little dog for my kid a few years back and she loved it, but it was a little too aggressive and nipped her. So my in-laws said they would take it and use it for security. I went to visit them a few weeks later and the dog was gone...nobody seemed to know where it went. I found out later FIL sold it, and the neighbors killed it and ate it...probably having a good laugh at how meaty the foreigner's dog was. I haven't talked to FIL since then and he's no longer welcome in my house. RIP "Baby Dog" :(

After watching dogs eat dead people like it was nothing, I don't feel too bad for dogs turning into burgers anymore

Still the dog probably tasted better than the filipino food that your Father in Law is used to

Am I right? Am I right?

That dog did seem very sweet and adorable so I would have been upset too and would shut off anyone who would have done that to my pet. Still it is very unusual that your Father In Law sold the pet knowing without at least contacting you knowing how much you cared for the dog
