Does Sterling get the automatic rematch?

I don't think Aljo is getting the auto rematch. He is just not popular enough. He really gets booed in his hometown.

He has wins over ever fighter whod have a claim to the 135 GOAT title. This is also 135s best era. Like it or not right now hes the GOAT.

He has 2 robberies on Yan.he faked a injury to win a title. That's bogus not GOAT status. He ran head first into a overhand right and got planked.

It's a fitting end given his antics. Back to the preliminaries.

Deserving? <Lmaoo> That's real cute. Are you waiting for a unicorn too? The cow just jumped over the moon! <Moves>

This is sports entertainment. It's about MONEY. MAerab was to fight Aljo. He ducked. Good riddance.

He's got triple C next if lucky. O'Malley isn't fighting crotch sniffs of any kind in the near future. Ufc is going to milk this cow and ride thr money train. Chito and Corey next. ;)
Lol yes I’m afraid you are probably right

Cory just proved he is adept at crotch sniffing with his wins over Font and Chito. this new improved wrestling version of Cory is a big threat to O'Malley, especially since i think Cory is a more varied and dynamic striker on top of the wrestling.

Let’s hope not. I absolutely hate that trend. Should only be done in the following scenarios:

1) the fight was a draw
2) the fight featured something sketchy (blatantly early stoppage in what was otherwise a close fight, terrible decision, etc)
3) The losing fighter was an incredibly dominant champion (that doesn’t mean any swinging dick with a title defense. I mean like an Anderson, Aldo, Volk type fighter).

It ties up the division way too long. We want fresh matchups. What happens if Sterling wins a close decision (not exactly a far-fetched scenario). Then they have to run it back for a third fight and no one wants that.

IMO Sterling was GOAT cause he beat all the other alternatives. But yeah he has not reigned long enough to get an insta rematch. This division also does not suck. If it did maybe.

Compromise that makes sense is letting O Malley fight Merab or Vera next but not requring Sterling to fight again in the interim.
Zhang got one after getting tko’d by Rose after defending once?

Like volk and max

I highly doubt it unless its an injury replacement. Dana isn't much of fan of his.

Seems like every time a champ loses they run it back these days
They were touting Sterling as the “ best bw of all time “ and “ dominant champion “
He was talking about moving up- why would volk take that fight now?
He got tko’d- does that factor in?
So does he go to the back of the line or get that rematch?
Do you think he should get an immediate rematch?

If Aljo was more popular they'd probably do it. They are running the O'Malley show until it crashes. Maybe if Aljo takes out a few guys they will get the rematch but it doesn't sound like Aljo even wants to stay at 135.

No.

The UFC will do what it can to protect and promote O’Malley given his star potential.

O’Malley also isn’t dumb enough to accept a rematch even if they UFC was interested.

Nope. Not enough title defenses, not exactly an exciting fighter or draw, and Dana and especially the the fans don't like him. He could hold Dana at gunpoint and still not get a rematch. In fact, I bet the match Sterling up with the worst possible matchup when he returns just cus, someone like Umar or Yadong in hopes he gets wrecked again.

It sucks being an unpopular black UFC fighter, you just don't get any favors or love.

He won the belt on a DQ, the UFC is either going to incentivize him to go to FW or bury him in the BW depth chart.

No way Aljo gets a shot again. One of the worst champs in UFC history.
Even I thought that championship belt was weak AF. But he beat Yan fair and square the next time. People seem to forget that. For various circumstances people are ready to call Aljo a paper champ and on the other hand the GOAT. I suspect the truth lies somewhere in the middle, ground seldom trodden here on the main streets of Sherdog.
