He's 7' tall. He has an 84" reach.

For comparison:
Jon Jones has an 84.5" reach.
Overeem has an 80" reach.
Brock Lesnar: 81"
Ngannou: 83"
JDS: 79"
Black Beast: 79"
Gane: 82"
Stipe: 80"

Everyone said he always he never learned to use his reach, and that's why he failed to reach his potential. But, at HW, he actually doesn't have that much of a reach advantage. He's 7' tall. But he only has 7' long arms. A 1:1 ape index. Everyone else in the division may be shorter, but they're rocking 1.2:1 ape indexes and stuff.

For comparison, I've seen guys his height in the NBA that have 92" reaches.

So, maybe the reason Struve never learned to use his huge reach is.. because he doesn't actually have a huge reach?

3 inches is a big reach advantage for someone in your weight class. 4 and above is a huge advantage

I mean, it's an advantage. But it's not huuuuuge. Everyone acts like he has this Jon Jones' style reach advantage at HW that he failed to use. He just doesn't.

84 is almost as good as it get for reach. And he could use that but he fight like he’s 5ft. Tall.

and his leg reach which would be cool as a stat in the ufc is absurd. Strive should push kick and feel his way to a title shot.

But it’s not the height. Or reach. It’s the man.

Physics diagram needed. Yes, to an extent because he has head reach advantage but punches down. Reach is negated in crouching.

But it is such a misleading stat anyway as what advantage is leg length and so on.

Some boxing stats are unnecessary in MMA.

They are not standing in the middle of the octagon in a T-pose and rotating until either are knocked out, they are fighting.
Struve has insanely long legs and if the man would have learned how to use his long legs, torso and arms in a single motion he would have been a fighting specimen thanks to his reach.

Good example actually. Holland has an 81" reach. 2 weight classes lower and Struve is 9" taller. So everyone assumes he would have like a 12" reach advantage. But he only has a 3" reach advantage. So.. Holland probably would.
Its with this post you show you are full of crap! Why in heck would he have a 12" reach advantage?

It's not at all average. Most men have longer wingspans than their height. A 1:1 ape index is pretty bad. Most 7' guys probably have around a 90" reach. Semmy Schilt is 6'11" and has an 88" reach.

I don’t think that’s true at all man.

The leg reach and torso length stats are out there. Struve, I remember, has the same torso length as Stipe. Stipe also has the same leg length as DC hahaha.

This subject has been thoroughly studied and human arm span is pretty damn close to their height on average:

There is a slightly higher ratio for men but we are talking hundredths.

Now, if talking about certain sports it would probably change. If you studied basketball players or boxers or maybe MMA fighters you'd probably find they would be on average higher than this. But it's a well known and studied fact that average people have arm spans roughly equal to their height.

Leonardo Da Vinci's ideal man picture shows a 1:1 ape index. But we measured it in school once senior year, almost every guy had a wingspan 5" longer than his height. Some a bit more than that. I was the odd man out in the entire class with a 1:1 ape index. And this was a school of about 70% white guys and 29% asian guys. Most guys aren't the ideal man like me.

I'm guessing their issues with how things were being measured if most people had 5" more reach than height. Out of 20 guys you might find one that is more than 3" than their height.

my friend that was along time ago. Prime Michael Jordan by those BMI index from that long ago is morbidly obese
Going by those numbers Ed Norton in the machine at is optimal male size

yeah I heard that on maybe a welterweight fight how these guys torsos are the same as stipes. But those attributes should be measured and put forth as you’re entire body is a weapon in mma. Just not your basic boxing stats.

Failed?
You see that's the problem with the mma fanbase... they have such narrow vision... Jon Jones is not being called GOAT and reigned as champ breaking records because of his reach... he is that good... is is very good at what he does...

Struve if he had 4 arms like Goru in mortal kombat would still not be champ. he's just not skilled enough...

Anyway, in combat sports 4 inches is a huge reach advantage.. 3 is a big.. this isn't a debate, it's fact. 2 inches is a decent average advantage, 1 inch is nothing worth changing your game plan over.

4 inches is already longer than average height of an adult male fist.
