Opinion Does online hatred leftists have for Trump supporters spill over into real life?

Meh. Your nation millions thinking they could defeat a grizzly.

"In 2021, YouGov's 'Rumble In The Jungle' poll took off online. The poll asked what animals Americans believed they could beat in a fight. 6% of the respondents claimed they could defeat a Grizzly in a fight to the death. "

The nation didn't fail. Trump failed by crying wolf and tainting forever election results. It's going to be his legacy.

While funny that people think they could beat a Grizzly... that's a non-sequitur.

I got chased up a tree by a juvenile boar at 16 a Grizzly would have eaten me.

He thought the election was rigged and asked for people to protest and even said do it peacefully. You know...our first amendment. Questioning elections should never be looked down upon if there is just cause. I thought Al Gore should have fought harder when he got screwed.

Hillary to this day says she lost the election due to Russians and it was rigged. It was a protest that turned into a riot. If he told people to go riot and overturn the election, then you'd have a point.
No that's not all he did, he organized a fraudulent slate of electors and sent them to the capitol in the hopes that Mike Pence would overturn the election in his favor. Here is one fraudulent slate of electors that tried to get into the Michigan state capitol to impersonate real electors.

The reason he held the protest was to pressure the lawmakers into overturning the election. 11 members of Congress including Ted Cruz were willing to go along with this plot but Mike Pence was not which foiled the plot.

I have Trump supporters in my life that I'm very close to. I just don't discuss politics with them. When things do come up, I'll only really speak in data.

There are 2 or 3 people in my life who were really eaten up by Trumpism and the paranoia and conspiracy theories. I'm avoiding them 'till the election is over. I'm not so much mad at them as it makes me sad.

I'm genuinely interested in the worldview that leads someone toward Trumpism. It's mostly why I partake in the War Room. I have very few conservatives in my life, even less are actually Trump supporters, and I don't want to alienate those people. So I engage strangers.

There are only 2 groups of people I get angry at.
  • People who love Trump for who they think he'll hurt.
  • Willfully ignorant and disingenuous people (e.g. Will make a point without a source and when confronted with actual data conflicting with their point will maintain their original position or "everything that conflicts with Trump is rigged/fakenews/biased. The news, acadamia, judges he appointed, elections boards, the national weather service, auditors, his former cabinet, Tucker Carlson sometimes, Steve Bannon sometimes.").
The Trump supporters I dislike are the ones who act smug and incredulous that anyone would vote against Trump or for the Democratic candidate. If you support Trump because you're pro-life or for tax cuts that's one thing but don't act like you can't see why your candidate is repulsive to a significant chunk of the country.

Nah Bro, the only reason to passionately dislike Trump is because you're a loser. Didnt you know?

My close friends are not Trump supporters. A neighbor obviously is, since he has Trump signs on his lawns. He's a decent dude, although I wish all his Mustangs, motorcycles, quads and whatever else he has were a bit quieter and he didn't endlessly floor them up and down the street when I'm trying to read a book in the backyard, lol. But I digress...

I do have an elderly family member who is a hardcore MAGA cultist. She literally Fox News rants at you, then goes "NO, NO, NO, NO!" If you try to say anything...and I mean anything, no matter how calm and innocuous, in response. Criticism of Trump literally makes her shake and cry. She just can't handle it. She knows if there is a calm, rational discussion about it, she doesn't have a leg to stand on, she can't rationalize her support, so she just won't go there.

She still has a landline telephone, and I guess her age is public info on the internet, so she gets phone calls from people trying to scam her all the time now. She always calls out their bullshit then slams the phone down on them, lol. She obviously takes a lot of pride in not falling for it. "Not gonna get me! Maybe that idiot upstairs (her husband), but I won't fall for it!" Meanwhile, she remains completely oblivious to how badly she's been bamboozled by all the right-wing media she consumes.

She didn't used to be like this. As far as I can tell she was mostly apolitical before Trump. In fact, I distinctly remember, must have been around 2006, when another relative graduated school, Hillary Clinton gave the commencement speech. She was standing on her tippy toes, trying to get a look, going "Hillary! Hillary!" lmao. She was very excited. But by 2016 suddenly Hillary was a demon, apparently.

As ridiculous as right-wing media is to people on the outside, the fact is it is really
effective at sucking a certain type of person in. They've got that shit down to a science. Retired, with the kids out the house, she had more time on her hands. She turned on Rush Limbaugh or Michael Savage one day and it's been a downward spiral ever since.

As for whether I hate her or not, no, I don't hate her. The cocksuckers, the entire nincompoop ecosystem of grifters that exploit vulnerable people like her - that's a different story. Let's just say people constantly pissing on Limbaugh's grave is very understandable and super necessary.

Most of my wife's Family are Catholic, and by that I mean "life begins at arousal" Catholics. But they all have skeletons in their closets. She has one Uncle who is radically left, because he has a disability. There are 9 siblings on her Father's side and he would send out emails to all the Family expressing concerns. When they all started ignoring him entirely he stopped interacting. Suddenly they grew very concerned about him and her Father and their older Sister went to Washington to "talk some sense into him." They consider him mentally unstable and tall about him as if he is unruly and unreasonable.

I don't talk politics with them, neither does my Mom when she is around them. But aside from that they're very nice people over all and love the kids. Her Dad used to start political discussions with me (she hated it), but they were really just him being curious how I think of things. It never got heated. My wife hates it not necessarily because of political views, but because she kinda sees her Dad as an inept ne'er-do-well who is easily flustered and taken apart because he lacks confidence...which is true. So he is easily agitated. He doesnt do that anymore, now he just rants on Facebook about stereotypical right wing talking points and if I want a good laugh I just see how many of his friends reply as many of them give it back to him.

Generally he is a sweetheart, gullible guy. He has musical talent but never had the courage to pursue it. So he became a worker bee inevitably. In the small Arizona town he lives in he works for one of the resident millionaires cleaning his U-Haul trucks, or whatever else. He refers to this guy as his "friend"...guy has his own private plane and sh*t, and sometimes he cant come to visit his Grandkids because he had to watch that guy's cat while he vacations out of State, or the Country.

This is typically because people with sense can tell that many Trump voters are so because of grievance/vengeance politics. Meaning they want someone punished, be it the trannies, the gays, the illegals, the scientists, the Doctors, the teachers, etc. When you know someone has grienvance/vengeance at the center of their political views, it can create a bitter tinge to when they are nice as well. Kind of like how religious fundamentalists make it a point to be super nice to you...while they're judging you and deciding you'll go to Hell for doing whatever offends them.

Yeah fair. I do however think a lot of people really overestimate how vested in politics the average person is.

Seems like at best, only 2/3rds of eligible folks who can vote even bother to.

There's got to be a considerable population that does vote, but are beyond low information voters who could just hear a few tidbits of things and vote Trump because he sounds patriotic. Or vote Democrat because they sound like they care about poor people.

Unfortunately, often the more vested someone gets, the more they fall for the extremist caricature of the other side. The dyed hair, nose pierced, translucent eyeglasses, screaming and reeing who think they are battling against genocidal right wingers. And foam at the mouth Trumpers who look to paint Liberals as folks hellbent on communism and making your kids trans. Spending so much time online in these forums or having politics oriented interests feeding into people's social media really overestimates how little most people care and folks in general really take themselves too serious if they can't get along with most people over who they vote for.

147 members were!

And that was after the riots. There would have been more. Some members said they were going to, but the riots changed their mind (that was before they realized even Jan 6th wouldn't get Trump's cult to leave him).

for leftists, no, but i'd guess liberals are probably pretty torn up about him when it comes to politics at the dinner table.

Oh, its location is public knowledge? Where is it, pray tell?

Asking for a friend.

I get the hate for Trump. I really do. I hated him too.

But you're supporting Harris LOL.....think about that for a second...or a minute.

She really is a worthless see you next Tuesday. Every aspect of her is just worthless.

Don't get jobbed. At least Trumps been to the rodeo and didn't do half as bad a job as you aspire towards.

It doesn't go both ways. Not in the same intensity at least.

Hatred of leftists is responsible for about 75% of the entire Maga movement. By this point, conservatives everywhere admit that Trump is a crooked, stupid, conniving moron but they still support him just to "swim in liberal tears" or whatever.

I find that iite trump supporters constantly referring to the left. Using the word liberal is like a derogatory word to conservatives

The funny thing is the democrat party isn’t even left, it’s center right. Has a progressive wing but there is no real left wing party

lol trump did a dog shit job

I get along with one but keep him at arm's length. Any time he talks politics it hurts my brain. He doesn't know basic things about basic things. Many around him (including those who like and hang out with him) get quiet when "commies!" or some such comes out of his mouth. Several people who like him have come to me and told me they don't understand how he can support Trump. Several have had arguments with him. In particular, every woman I know who knows him hates his politics.

Another one I know (in passing at best) has a Trump flag on his vehicle. He is obnoxious and talked about wearing a confederate flag hat to troll in like an Albertsons or something. I must've not hid my contempt well because he was different with me after telling me that, I said something to the effect of, "ah, just like to mess with people eh?" To be fair I felt myself looking down on him. Another person I know who slightly leans left but is relatively apolitical also doesn't like him.

The last I can think of off the top of my head that I had regular-ish contact with who supported him believed in all sorts of ridiculous conspiracies. I mentioned Trump's actual policy once (I wanna say it had to do with corporations, maybe the corporate tax rate? Trump was president when I had that convo so it's been a hot minute), my point being that it was the opposite of what he (this dude) was saying, and he squirmed and broke his brain trying to make his nonsense make sense. I didn't say anything else after that.

I don't think I've ever met an overall more obnoxious and ignorant group of people. In my experience, the interviews you see with Trump people - where they say insane shit and deny reality - isn't just random chance or selection, that's pretty normal for his base.

...But I'm sure some are good people.

<Wink2>

Imagine how out of touch, smug and obnoxious you have to be to drive regular people to prefer voting alongside the bubba rednecks of maga weirdos instead of the high horse, scolding, smelling their own farts leftard weirdos.
GTFOH with your Eastern European opinions. I think you're the one that thinks too highly of the smell of his own farts.

It was 100% rigged. There is a difference between "rigging" and "cheating". We'll never know about cheating, because the chain of custody of ballots can not be verified by design.

Rigging is: Unrequested Mail In Ballots for the first time by the millions, drop boxes, vote harvesting, un-clean/verfied voter rolls, counting in the middle of the night without observers, having the FBI (Elvis Chan) pressure social media to remove posts / stories that hurt Democrats, and of course having the News Media, Entertainment, Education, and bureaucrats all working for Democrats by huge margins. Honest people don't trust our 2020 election process.

As far as the topic. You don't see Trump supporters attacking people wearing Biden / Harris or Harris / Walz shirts, but I can share a ton of videos where a red hat set off some Left Cult loon. If I put a Harris / Walz sticker on my truck... it will be safe. If I put a Trump / Vance sticker on it, I won be surprised to have it keyed or a smashed window.

lol he told his vp not to certify the election and pence said no. To compare that to Hilary is just being dishonest but that’s par the course for MAGA
