Does Mike Perry's win over Al Iaquinta at SUG diminish khabins win?

Bib cant hang with them WWs
Yeah we know that because hes a medium sized lw and has never fought any to judge by. He could beat many of the them. Conor just fought cowboy at 170...khabib handled conor easily and would handle cowboy as well. No one can say he cant hang with them unless one beats him.

It's funny how when huge guys use size and massive weight cuts to win like gsp, jon etc...and they are called goats, but a guy who isnt big for his division at all beats everyone and is claimed to be less because he doesnt move up. Did gsp move up in his reign?...nope...he came back and fought a 1 eyed paper champ at 185..but always fought smaller guys when he was so great...and even lost to a 155 fighter in serra..

I guess if he moves up all the way to hw and beats them all ..he might get some respect from all the haters that have to pull shit out of their ass to try and diminish the guy. Hes undefeated....hes champ...he doesnt need to move up to be great...he is already great, and the best lw ever. A win over tony will cement this.

Jon? How many times has he missed weight or been hospitalized due to a cut? Meanwhile DC had kidney failure at the Olympics and continued to cut to 205 , cheating once, and looking like death to fight at LHW. A guy who jon destroyed twice

And? Khabib is extremely dominant.
What's his toughest fight in your estimation?
It was either Al Conor or Poirier.

Just because he won doesn't mean it was a walk in the park.
Al did a lot better in the grappling than most against Khabib.

So yes, it is a good question.

Sometimes extremely dominant skills won't transfer to higher weight classes.
Someone Khabib beat at LW losing to a middle of the road WW in grappling is entirely relevant.
Tibau, Conor, Poirier (had him backing up with strikes and nearly subbed him with a guillotine)..

Al may have survived the grappling exchanges and stuffed takedowns, by the virtue of having great defensive grappling (shown by his fights with Lee and Khabib) .. however at the cost of being so defensive, he was soundly outstruck by Khabib and literally had zero success on the feet..eating jabs for the entire fight.

In regards to the grappling match with Perry, SUG rules are weird as highlighted by numerous posters..

Exactly.

Great grappling defense at 155 does not necessarily equate to great grappling defense at 170.

That's the whole point.

I can't speak on the rules of SUG, but pointing out how a middle of the road 170'r out grappled AI is not irrelevant or a dumb point at all. It's comparative performances.

Al Iaquinta beat Jorge Masvidal. As far as I know Jorge never even cracked the top 5 at LW.

Now he is fighting for the title at 170. None of this matters though, you can use this type of shit to make a lot of claims about this fighter vs another.

Your troll threads suck. At least put in some more effort.

First of all im talking about real WWs not bloated LWs and second Khabibs liver shut down on him trying to make 155
And nothing about 170 diminishes his wins at 155 and me telling it how it is about 170 and him wont change it either.

Mike Perry, one of the smallest welterweights, easily neutralized Al's grappling and won in overtime. Does this diminish khabibs win? Arguably khabibs toughest match?

Damn.

Khabib livin' rent free all up in in this fuckwad's head.

Masvidal vs iaquinta was 5 years ago. Perry vs iaquinta was 3 days ago and vs khabib only 2 years

Mike perry is "middle of the road" grappler ? LOL. He is the worst grappler at 170 and possibly in the UFC vs a guy who grew up grappling and trains at a grappling centric gym.

Sherdog has witnessed GSP vs BJ 2, Fedor vs Werdum, Diaz vs Condit, Anderson vs Weidman 1 and 2, and Jones KOing USADA.

But throughout all of that no one has ever been as traumatized as D1 was after 229 when Khabib destroyed Conor. D1’s entire life has been focused on reacting to that loss ever since. This trauma stands above all others in Sherdog history.

And rua tapping to strikes
#1 trauma

Yeah, it's basically as if he never won the title and then lost to Conor

Perry didn't out grapple Al. Al soundly won in the grappling match proper. He lost because SUG has idiotic rules.

Perry survived the first round which is a grappling match proper. And in overtime he had the quicker escape giving him the win despite getting handled earlier.

No. Perry exploited a quirk in the ruleset. Run that back int he UFC, Iaquinta takes Perry out easily.

Who would have thought Perry would be a better grappler than a boxer? This guy never ceases to amaze me.
