And Usman is boring and Morales exciting and you just said casuals don't know anything about the sport, they just tune in, so what does whatever little Usman's name value matter? We're just changing the criteria and argument to fit a different resultEvloev doesn’t have a name and his style is boring. Someone above also said they are catering to certain markets with the paramount deal.
At this point im a pretty casual watcher... I would recognize Lopes in a crowd I would not recognize Murphy or Evloev... that means Lopes is more famous... people like seeing fighters they know who they are.Casuals are that much more lined up to watch Diego, who they saw get beat up already, vs someone they are unfamiliar with? I sincerely doubt its changing much on that scale. There is a good chunk of casual fans who just tune in when they see an event and I think those are the same people tuning in to either of these fights. Lopes isn't moving needles.
I doubt it. I've never seen Diego Lopes mentioned anywhere on Earth outside of an MMA bubbleYes.
what don’t you get? Fights that happen across the pond in the Middle East are judged by a different criteria …. Haven’t u noticed the names of the fighters that fight over there? It’s all people from that region who usually have a boring style but the UFC doesn’t give a shit because the rich Arabs are paying for the UFC to host events. And Usman is boring and Morales exciting and you just said casuals don't know anything about the sport, they just tune in, so what does whatever little Usman's name value matter? Of course, i should not phrase it like that but i feel in comparison to other options Volk has more to gain with others than this.Winning a title fight is not nothing. Headlining an event in your home country is not nothing.
I don’t think the UFC will ever be able to pull the Mexican people away from boxing it’s too entrenched in their history and cultural identity. Its no secret they're desperate for a way into the mexican market
They can’t necessarily pull it over completely because boxing is so entrenched in their history AND there just haven’t been any dominant Mexican fighters. Who was the last one? Cain Velasquez?I don’t think the UFC will ever be able to pull the Mexican people away from boxing it’s too entrenched in their history and cultural identity.
I personally feel it’s a fool’s errand but I could be wrongl.
Cain really shit the bed with that whole mexico city catastrophe aswellThey can’t necessarily pull it over completely because boxing is so entrenched in their history AND there just haven’t been any dominant Mexican fighters. Who was the last one? Cain Velasquez?
I bet if a Mexican knockout artist comes along the numbers would go crazy…. They tried with Moreno and Yair and their stand up is good but they just don’t have the finishing power to be crazy exciting
Sea level Cain wouldn’t of let them down.Cain really shit the bed with that whole mexico city catastrophe aswell
Sounds like the fans should just have more brown prideCain really shit the bed with that whole mexico city catastrophe aswell
I learnt that in his last fight lol, I totally though he was MexicanI know "Lopez" passes for Mexican but he is Brazilian.

Casuals don’t know anything about the sport. They show up the night of the fight and they see someone like Evloev or Makhachev humping and grinding and they say wtf is this shit.
When they see Lopes they are like oh damn he’s a Mexican (if the fan is Mexican he gets a boner) standing and banging. That’s the difference.
