Colby's shtik is off putting and he managed to fuck up his career. But he also easily handled Maia, Woodley, RDA and went toe to toe with prime Usman.

Volk couldn't cut it at WW not even in the bush leagues, had to drop two divisions to rise to the top. That's doesn't mean he's not a great fighter, just that he's better suited for the lower divisions. Not that surprisingly for a 5'6 guy with shoes on.

Styles make fights, and Colby/Usman were low quality boxing fights. Prime Volk pieces Colby up on the feet, it's just a question if he can stop the wrestling from the bigger man. If he can do that well against Islam, I don't see why someone would be so confident to think Colby would for sure beat him.

He was 4-1 at WW in the first 5 fights of his career, and fought once more there after the loss. Again, no version of Colby ever had the ability to finish Volk. He could only possibly beat Volk by controlling him.

Islam badly rocked/dropped/finished Oliveira the fight before Volk, and has improved his striking a lot in recent years. But again, Colby isn't finishing prime Volk, so it's irrelevant that Islam finished a short notice out of shape Volk.
