Here’s how I see this situation.

UFC 325 in Sydney title fight between Volk and Lopez for a second times can end in a few ways none of them perfect for Volk.

1 Volk wins again but has wasted his time, money, and body fighting a guy he beat at least 3-2 already.

2 Volk loses in front of his home town leaving everyone feeling bad and probably making him feel like he let is fans and country down.

That’s not even accounting for the very real possibility that Volk may be retiring very soon.

All of this can be avoided for Volk if it was either one of two worthy contenders in Evolev or Murphy because if he wins against them it cements his greatness if he loses he’s passing the touch to new blood.

Craig jones in his video about Dana and his practices made a good point that the UFC has to control the narrative, they have to have the best in the world currently with them.

Remember when Khabib retired undefeated and undisputed? Dana tried so hard to bring him back to fighting because if the number one guy is not champion for them it looks bad since they’re meant to be the best.

I know this is schizo rambling but I’m really confused as to why this was the match to make when there’s two worthy contenders who deserve it.

Volk himself doesn’t even seem like he’s happy about fighting Lopez for a second time.

Idk just something I was thinking about.

He and the company have had a hard on for Lopes for a while. They like Volk a lot too but Dana still sees a lot of value on Lopes as champion. Likeable, exciting, young, fights frequently, and can break into multiple markets (popular in Mexico and US).

Dana is trying to break into Paramount with the most entertaining fight thats reasonable and casuals dont know/care about Evloev at all so thats basically that situation.
Casuals are that much more lined up to watch Diego, who they saw get beat up already, vs someone they are unfamiliar with? I sincerely doubt its changing much on that scale. There is a good chunk of casual fans who just tune in when they see an event and I think those are the same people tuning in to either of these fights. Lopes isn't moving needles.

Volk has literally come out since this announcement and said he wanted Evloev or Murphy in December, but the UFC said only Lopes, who wouldn't be available by December, and he had to wait and extra 3 months, to fight a less deserving contender.

So we have a healthy champ, wanting to be active and fight an undefeated top contender... Isn't that what fan every screams for... And the UFC force him to wait longer, to fight a less deserving guy, he already beat.

Casuals don’t know anything about the sport. They show up the night of the fight and they see someone like Evloev or Makhachev humping and grinding and they say wtf is this shit.

When they see Lopes they are like oh damn he’s a Mexican (if the fan is Mexican he gets a boner) standing and banging. That’s the difference.

Yes.

So shouldn't it be Morales and not Usman vs Shavkat?

" Paramount+ becomes the exclusive home of UFC events in the U.S. and Latin America. "
Not the UK
Not Russia
They have to make Paramount happy for a few months for the honeymoon

No because Ali owns the UFC right now. Usman is Muslim, Islam is Muslim… both are managed by Ali. Ali is supported by the Middle East which pays the UFC a shit ton of money privately to host the fights they want to see and push. I mean Usman took a short notice fight against a killer in Khamzat why would he do that?

Volk is fighting for a belt I don’t think he’d prefer it any other way regardless of the opponent.

And Evloev's manager is ?

Dana probably thinks that Lopes is a Mexican - If they can't get Yair then put in the other Mexican >..< UNTIL we have a Mexican champion ><

Ufc has always disliked volk. That's why they gave Frankie a title shot before volk despite volk being the guy. That's why they gave more marketable Holloway 3 cracks at him. That's why they made volk waste like 10 months of his prime filming stupid tuf with Ortega. That's why they sacrificed him to islam on 11 days notice to please the oil sheiks.
