Social Does anyone here play chess ?

You should be able to reach Hunt's rating in a few months. You will need to do a little bit of studying, though. Probably some openings, tactics and so on. I am 1300 right now, but have gotten lazy with it. Next year I will try to get better.

I used to play on lichess.
Fairly sure I can beat any of you in a lightning game, as you're not worth more than 2 minutes of my time. I'll even put up a crisp fiver.
I am dog-y there. Same as here, till they banned the -.:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:s.

I loved the game growing up and it still looks fun as hell to play but I simply never learnt any proper strategies. I used to like getting my rooks out early but that's pretty terrible for your first moves.
Yes that‘s terrible. Good players set-up their pawn/bishop/horses structure early. Towers for later.

Yeah let’s run it bro yeah don’t do that with you’re rooks I did used to meet youngsters in jail that were nice with their rooks early like that but that’s probably frowned upon I would say
Brings up being in jail in his third post in a chess thread and he never posted here. Not convinced about the account tbh

Love chess but never played it seriously, just some games with my uncle (RIP) who teached me rules, but was like 3-4 games each years growing up, then not even that when he was no more with us

Result while i won most of games i made with random friends claiming they can play, when i've meet legit good player end up i got wrecked something like 6-7 loss and 1 draw (but these bullshit draw where other guy essentially won and you just can't move lol)
He said i have good ideas but i make big errors that apparently are classic to those who play consistently or that i did'nt try stop/counter very known stuff that a legit player would instant recognize and stop at first sight

But honestly think even if i played more i doubt i would have been anything great, my mind ever been good at handle direct immediate stuff rather than long plan thinking many moves ahead

You can still improve though. Which teaches you to be more patient in life with your moves

I used to, it's fun. I had Star Wars Chess on Sega CD...........great game.
I was friends with this Vietnamese kid in elementary school and he taught me how to play. His parents owned a video store and they'd make him work the register after school <6>

After a while, I just did log in. None of you :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:s can ever show up, be it MMA, boxing, chess...
Again: lichess dog-y

Edit: can't even curse on old sherdog anymore? Alright, I'll go for the ban hammer soon. This level of buffoonery is unacceptable.

I'm just ok

my kids used to play for a few years in monthly tournaments. That shit was intense. Like most kids sports parents get super involved and become kinda crazy about it. I was maybe a 6 on the crazy scale.
My kids had a few books and lessons from a local grandmaster in Denver. My boy got sorta decent.

My ex is a professor and used to have grad school students over for holidays and whatnot. Some played my boy and he would destroy them.
Sadly he got sick of chess and gave it up a few years back. We play every once in a while and he kills me.
