The guy has been getting a lot of backlash because of what he did in his last fight.

But it was not him who gouged Gane eyes illegally.

And It's funny that he's taking the brunt of the criticism.

I feel for the guy, he wanted to fight and ended up getting gouged.

I think if there anyone to blame in that fight ending in that manner it's Gane and I love Gane I wanted him to win.

He committed a huge foul and should take full responsibility and blame for that imo.

And plus now Tom has to do eye surgery.

What an unfortunate sequence of events for the man.

I think it's fine, he just needs to stop trying to convince people. People gonna talk shit until he fights again. Just gonna have to wait til then.

I wonder if it was the other way around, if it was Tom Aspinall who gouged Cyril Gane and Gane ended up choosing to stop the fight because of the injuries he sustained because of an illegal strike.

I wonder if people will be on Gane about not continuing fighting if the roles were changed.

I think they would, cos he's been known in the past to not take fights seriously.

I do feel sympathetic for him because he got fouled out of a title fight but the way he handled it, and is handling it, is not good at all.

The fingernail dirt analysis being the low point, lol.

There are a lot of people criticizing Tom for being fouled and I can't wait for their buttplugs to arrive so they get away from their keyboards for a little bit
That won't work, I am always wearing mine when I type on Sherdog.

And there is no way that eyepoke caused orbital injury on the right side.

absolutely, His situation sucks. He was absolutely put in a bad situation in the fight and was not winning. Then he got hit with a brutal eye poke that ended the fight and created optics that make him look like he wanted out. That was the most adversity he we've ever seen him face up to this point. He was supposed to, and I quote some retard from here i cant remember his name "swat gane like a fly" The lines in the rematch have changed toward cyril. I've NEVER seen such incredibly high expectations placed on a fighter. And it was always his so called fans who placed those expectations on him for some reason or another(the reason is jones). It never made since for tom to beat cyril easily. Cyril is the beat fighter he's ever faced and it's not even close to a discussion or debate IMO. now, through no fault of his own (other than the after math of it) his reputation is completely soured.

I think it's a good thing in a way, because i think what to expect from tom becomes much more realistic in the eyes of some. He is not some invincible god with super fast cat hands and speed. He's now has a reasonable stick to measure against in cyril gane and we can see there are holes in his game and he's a normal fighter that can get hit and bleed like everyone else. He had all the tools to be one of the goats, younger, Athletic, no losses in the UFC, ect. this could completely change the trajectory of his career and i hate to see it.

I am also feel bad for gane. the title was within his grasp finally and everything was going swimmingly for him before he blew his chance with an acciedental eyepoke. He may never get to prove he's better than tom because we dont know if tom will ever fight again.

For sure.

Took the brunt of two blatant fouls and somehow came out as the villain in the story. It's as much a commentary on the current state of social media/people's brain's as it is on the terrible state of HW MMA.

Tom should have just kept his mouth closed and looked forward to rebooking the fight when possible but he got drawn into the water cooler shit talk and couldn't get away.

I personally dont think this is true. I dont think users are criticising tom for not fighting. it's EVERYTHING ELSE. He didn't even lose but he's sore as fuck about it. Worse than stephens was against yair, worse than anyone i've ever seen have a fight go no contest over a foul.

He's approaching mark hunt level butthurt. He's talking about a bunch of stupid bullshit like dirty finger nails, calling his opponent a "dirty fucking cheater" even though he was getting his ass whooped CLEAN AS FUCK before the foul. before the foul he was looking sloppy and desperate. I can now tell if he were to have lost he'd have probably made a ton of excuses. If he just took a "shit happens, I'll be back approach" it would not be nearly as bad for him.

Truth is, his he had his old man popping off at the mouth constantly while all The UFC had nothing to say about any of it. he should have let the UFC update fans on his condition after medicals and such. it would have come from a more offical more unbiased source.
