Does anyone enjoy this forum anymore?

Theres nor a whole lot to ralk about. Saudis run the show, no major rivalries between fighters or promoters, boxing and mma are now friends and probably fucking, tv ratings not disclosed, DAZN might as be an empty sealed jug when it comes to audience. I would like to think itbis in a new growth stage in breaching into new audiences.

Yes, this is where I go for boxing news that hasn't hit boxingscene yet because I was kicked off of twitter.
I've been locked out periodically. Some days I can get in and others I can't. My account was created in 2009 I think so I've never given my phone number. That might be the reason I'm having trouble. This is why I come here for news or chatter.

On Twitter, the boxing conversation is pretty much the same. About one fighter says about the other etc.

I threatened to murder a famous white supremacist (I live in Idaho) and was banned. I really only followed Boog, Jake Donovan, and a few others who always had scoops before the rest of the internet (usually undercard fights coming our way). I miss it, but fuck Elon.

That was last year ... how about this year?

Garcia and Haney ... both have fought once this year.
Crawford? Once.
Canelo's fought two stay busy fights.
What about Tank? ONCE.
I can go on about activity levels ... I'm tired of talking for 3 years about fights I want to see.

Fury-Usyk twice ... that's more like it. Will either of them fight after this one? They're old.

I like that Inoue stays busy. Need more of that from others to generate more discussion.

You better be fucking joking

they were active? When they're active this forum has more thing to talk about, right?
Youre whining about having literally all the best fighters in the sport fight... BUT ONLY ONCE??!

And they are even fighting each other. You didnt mention Beterbiev vs Bivol, and Benavidez... Not to mention all the good fights on the Saudi cards.. Like are you having a brainbleed? There are more high profile fights in the last two years than the last 10 or so before that on average... Do you even watch the sport?

Whining? Brainbleed? lol, is it possible to be any more emotional over the truth? You're emotional for a reason.

The point is if you want a more active and enjoyable forum we need the popular guys to fight more often and fight each other. Thats what we got in 2023, but guess what ... 2024 hasn't been even close to 2023. I really hope that changes in 2025 and the first Saudi card looks like a good start.

The majority of the highest profile fighters have not been active this year. Popular fighters generate more discussion than say a hardcore hero than David Benavidez.

Now you might need to grab your favorite blanket because this is going to hurt .... Jake Paul has fought 3 times this year. I'm no fan of his freak shows, but when you talk boxing, his name is going to come up because activity is a major part of it. Yes, there are other factors but fighting 3 times is a huge part of him keeping his name in the game. Yes, I know Garcia is a goon and got suspended. Haney doesn't even have a scheduled fight except for lawsuit. SMH.

If the most popular fighters fought more than once a year, the discussion goes up and the forum is more active. You want a more enjoyable forum with more topics than rumored fights? The most popular guys need to fight more than once a year and guys like Canelo need to replace Berlanga with a better opponent.

The hardcore fan is what's carrying this forum. MMALopez, Kovalev, Treelo, Hagler, Moz, OldCat etc. If you're part of the .etc I apologize for not mentioning you and know I still love you. FWIW I have a pretty good idea why old friend Seano hasn't been posting here as much.

I'd guess the traffic in this forum was higher before and after the Garcia-Haney fight. The momentum for those two has waned? Why? Definitely not because of their inactivity. Nope. If they were active they're be an uptick in discussion/threads no doubt.

Look, I love the sport and I've traveled to watch cards live a lot lately. Even went to one of those Saudi promoted cards you mentioned. A lot of times I've gotten out of bed early in the morning or stayed up late just to watch. I watched a ton of boxing Saturday (DAZN and ESPN card).

Inoue fought longtime dream rival Nery after like an eternity of discussion about it, and will close out 2024 with two more scalps before it’s all said and done. Wilder/Zhang, Parker/Zhang both 2024 fights…

It was non stop this year really

Oh I've been watching this sport for over 30 years.

And get this ... went to 3 events alone in the last year. 2 PPV's.

I'm not drinking the Kool-Aid.
Many of the regs in this forum are in our 40s & 50s so watching the sport for over 30 years isn't that impressive. I started watching in the 80s btw.

The two biggest fights in boxing are literally being rematched and decided within next 3 months, boxing is on fucking fire atm, but it still could be better. That can’t be denied with some of these so called “careers” going on.

I'm just glad we finally got an undisputed heavyweight champ. We waited almost 25 years. This year, 2024, broke that curse.

Since the 80's? Me too! Then you probably understand that the sport has given much less to talk about this year otherwise there were be more diverse threads.

The big names need to fight more than once a year and each other like in 2023. Forum isn't enjoyable right now? The sport can help fix that.

I'll gladly take less big fights if they're long anticipated match-ups. The Saudis have made them possible. As for activity level these guys should be fighting at least 3 times a year. Usyk has only been fighting once per year since 2019. His rematch against Fury will be the first time since 2018 that he's fought multiple times in a year.

that kind of talk will always get the wrong sort of attention. I made a facebook post about the luigi guy, just joking about how the ladies think a frothing at the mouth madman is cute, I put up a fake scenario of going out to a restaurant with the guy but I didn't go overboard saying the guy would stab the waiters eyeball or anything, just a little light fun about how women like some unstable guy.

I was watching the saudi who offered tyson 700 mill this morning. It just seems like the old roman emporers kinda. Anyway, i was curious of how they could possibly structure a deal like that. Paul won't do it if they won't pay him and even if they do, he's not broke so why would he volunteer? It's a strange offer and I'm sure Mike could use the dough. Kinda nutty just like the entire debacle though. The saudis probably don't know much about the sport, it's just another hobby for them to fill their empty schedules with.

I had a couple trainers in mma go train a couple rich guys from abu dhabi, it's a whole different world over there. I can't imagine how you could even turn some guy like that into any sort of fighter but they took the money.

didnt really want this thread to turn into this, can be closed, if everyone who is posting in this thread put enough effort into posting other topics and replying, we wouldnt have to see 90% of the forum with schedules(which i think are ok, maybe need a sub forum?)

some posting in here on this thread i have never seen post before , be more active, get involved in some discussions

Was the $700 million offer actually verified? I've kept track of how much these fighters have been paid by the Saudis and they've never paid a fighter even one-third of that figure. That's why I'm so skeptical. It'd be the largest offer in boxing history. Not even Floyd has made that much in a single fight and that's including his PPV cut against Pac. But, the Saudis could pay that amount. It's not like they can't afford it.
