The names are extremely impressive but the reality is very different

- Wins the title with an acting performance that puts Marlon Brando to shame against Yan (which he was losing)
- Defends against Yan via split decision (he probably won but no one likes a split decision)
- Defends against one arm Dillashaw (just lol)
- Defends against 36 year old washed Cejudo via split decision (a crackhead judge gave him the 5h round which he clearly lost, otherwise Cejudo is the #AndNew)

It's pretty crazy

Yes, he has the worst resume as "Champion."
And most of it is his fault.

The acting job with Yan 1 was pathetic.
The backpacking job with Yan 2 was equally pathetic.

It wasn't his fault Dillashaw came in handicapped.

It was his fault he mostly backpedaled from Cejudo, got on his knees, and ran from an older, smaller man in Henry for most of the fight.

Not exactly the stuff of which legends are built.

He won all 4 title fights, imo. Plain and simple. I think the real embarrassment is Yan fans/Aljo haters pretending he’s STILL not the legit champion.

He won all 4 fights. He hasn’t got to pick or choose like Cejudo did. He HAD to rematch Yan because he was the IC. Dillishaw is still the POS he was when he fought Cejudo. The UFC forced that fight. Aljo beat him fair and square. The UFC forced the Cejudo fight too. And Aljo won that fair and square. There shouldn’t have been any SD. He clearly won the rematch with Yan, and the fight with Cejudo.

Sterling didn't tell Yan to throw the knee, he didn't tell Dillishaw to fight compromised, nor did he tell Henry to fight tentatively. He's winning and in years to come when all of his haters hop off his shit then people will review his wiki and say "This guy was top 3 BW with an impressive resume.... wtf happened to Petyr Yan???"

<mma1><mma1>Jon Jones 205lbs owned the crown of worst best title run. I’ve been waiting for him to lose since 08’

The incompetency of the judges is not Aljo's problem.
Perhaps not, but it doesn't change what people saw.

People act like winning is impressive while completely ignoring the context of the fight.

Watching Sterling enough, you'd see that he's anything but impressive. I've seen enough MMA to know that getting the win does not make you a great fighter, or even the GOAT like some people around here are already claiming.

Absolutely insane that people still accuse of Sterling of acting till this day

MMA fans live in some delusional fantasy land

Sterling was hurt. Petr hit him in the temple with an illegal knee

And now he is being unfair treated like a criminal
Funny seeing people who’s never taken a knee to the face claim that sterling was faking and should’ve continued fighting as if he didn’t take an illegal knee…..the people who complain about that are just salty because they wanted to see him lose

I saw two wins, with the Yan rematch being the clearer one. I don't think Aljo is one of the GOATs, he's a solid fighter but I think he's been unfairly treated since Yan had a brain fart and decided to strike him from an illegal position.

What makes this all even worse is that the weight cuts are becoming harder and harder so he won’t even get to defend against the next generation. Umar, Sandhagen, Song, or Kyler Phillips will be fighting Merab and O’Malley instead

No one is saying that it’s Aljo’s “fault”, it’s just that his reign has been oddly great on paper but terrible in reality

Definitely one of the weirder runs in history. None of them have really been his fault but how he carries himself and has acted has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.

I never thought he'd amount to a champion but he's putting together a nice resume at least on paper. Every fight has just been a little weird.

I’d prefer to see a more dominant champ with a clear finish or unanimous decision. Nothing against Sterling or his competitors but DQ’s and split decisions are the worst types of win.

It also doesn’t help when the number 1 contender looks more impressive and would likely be the favourite against you.
