Do you tip on takeout orders?

I tip because I know what it's like to have worked in a restaurant. I also tip because I feel it's my responsibility, racially, to dispel the stereotype that we do not tip.

^^

I do the same, but I still get shitty service in some places, even by Asian servers. What's up with that? lol

being an asshole to people who tip poorly sure wont do you any favors by providing additional shitty service. if anything you lose other potential business like a dumbass because they tell their friends how shit the service was.

brilliant.

Losing a couple of shitty customers didn't hurt us in the slightest bit. Why bother giving them good service if they're going to be shitty customers either way?

management doesn't see it that way.

management would rather get rid of the employees who try to get a customer "back" because it hurts their profit ultimately. I know because of a family owned restaurant.

News flash: Nobody who doesn't have a personal financial stake in the restaurant will give a shit, manager or not.

ive known a few people who got fired for trying to get the better of customers in that manner by managers who had no stake so that's not entirely true.

I'd say it's true more often than not.

I don't work in the food industry. But I can't stand the cunni wafts on Sherdog who think tipping is too inconvenient for them, and then pretend that they are some millionaire entrepreneur who is 6'5", benches 450 and looks like a young John Stamos.

well that's not "nobody"...

and I agree too though. I've seen my share of assholes who tip change on a $40 delivery. that's bush league. but ive always been an over tipper. I do think "well im only going to waste those extra few bucks on something stupid so I can tip a little more for the convenience of them bringing me food.

Management has spoken.

Keep the change, ya filthy animal.

Sometimes out of guilt. I prefer not to tip for assembly line type restaurants or when I am picking up an order. A tip should be for constant service like clearing plates, giving refills, checking in on my party to see how everything is.

always.

Usually 10% but more if the service is fast.

Not for take-out, no. But if I sit down, even if it's a buffet, I'll tip something. As has been said, some people in this thread are either poor or just plain dicks.

Why do we need to bribe people to do their actual jobs? What is the point of listing a particular price for an item of food if you end up having to pay 15% beyond that? Delivery I can understand the point since you're going out of your way to bring you the food. But takeout if you're not getting paid enough per hour to do your job that is the fault of the business plan set up by the owner of the company and that's who you should be upset with not the customer.

its my way of giving to charity, its a crummy job and i can afford to help out so i do.

Hey that's your perogative but it shouldn't affect the quality of your service if you're someone who doesn't tip on takeout. Too many places have tip jars sitting out.
