Do you tip on takeout orders?

Yes I tip about percent 10% or 2 dollars for every 20 dollars on pick up.
I used to order pick up from a sushi restaurant every week. I would always order the same thing and tip 2 dollars and it was always the same person working. She was so appreciative of the tips that she always made sure my order was ready before i came in (it was a very busy place and sometimes I would order in less than 10 minutes before I was there) , add in extra stuff ect. On a few occasions she would even throw in a free/extra roll for me or an appetizer.

Hell no. Even more retarded is tipping car wash people. Seriously, I come to get my car washed and vacuumed, and I'm supposed to tip you for doing your job?? You and 3 other dudes vacuumed my 1x1 carpet mats, and wiped my windows, and expect 5 dollars in return on top of your hourly wage? lol gtfo with that noise.
A lot of immigrants work at a car wash for the day just for tips. It's sucks they get exploited that way

Only at the Chinese place I go to often. They are always super cool, hook me up with little extras and I know they work their asses off. The same dudes are in there 7 days a week from open to close. I'm happy to toss a couple bucks in their tip jar on the way out whenever I can.

If there's a tip option on the debit/credit machine, yes. I'll usually give about %15.

I feel bad not doing it in some ways but no.

There are a lot of curbside deliveries these days where they will bring your food out to your car. I've even had them tell me "and if you want to put a tip down, you put it right there".

You aren't serving me with drink refills and getting me items. You are simply handing me my food which is no different than a drive-thru. No tip for you.

Unbelievable how cheap some people are...

And you live in Seattle?

Ugh.

So you tip drive through workers as well? Awfully generous of you to reward those hard working people.

ts you sounds poor ...

kidding ...

anyways, no ... that tip would go straight into the pocket of the owner and he already got a tip when he marked up the price of my food .. shit, i sound poor

I don't get takeout that often, and it depends on the process. At a local sports bar, the bartender handles all of it so I give a small tip (around 10%). If I pick up pizza, I do give a tip because they recognize me and grab the stuff once I'm there. They also never fuck up the order which I appreciate. I leave around 10% also.

I've never really gone to a restaurant for takeout besides chinese.

Nope not on takeout. You put my food together just like at mcondlads and they dont get tipped.

I tip 20% when I dine in.

sometimes.

If it's like a chinese food place and I walk in to pick it up, I usually don't. If it's like Outback or something, where you're supposed to wait at the curb while someone brings it out to you, then yeah, I'll throw in a tip.

Fucking Outback brings the food out to you? I never knew this.

Only to this one sushi place i love. And thats because I noticed they've started giving a free roll along with two cans of soda on the house. Plus their sushi is great.

Every other eating establishment. Fuck no

Nope... I tip for service. Ringing up my bill is not service.

I used to live 70 yards from one, they're horrid ...as for tipping, worst thing about North America, mooching c*nts looking for extra money for doing their job.

Like someone said...servers in America only make like $2/hour and are basically independent contractors. If they were paid a higher wage, the food would cost more. It all balances out in the end. If the service is acceptable then tipping is the right thing to do in America. You should take a moment to understand the customs of any country that is gracious enough to allow you to visit.

Some waiters in the more high-end restaurants actually have a pretty good career and at times can be premier experts on etiquette...If you don't tip those guys then you are a fucking clown.
