Elections Do you think there was a better candidate that could have challenged Trump?

Dems are not bringing out progressive left people. What Dems are bringing out are people like what David Graeber describes below.

Biden wasn’t capable of making that decision. His signs of dementia risk were actually quite clear back in 2020, so the fact that they even ran him as a candidate should be considered a slap in the face to anyone who is loyal to the DNC. Remember when everyone just dropped out of the primary because they predicted correctly that Biden would beat Trump? That was preschool short term thinking.

He got given a choice: withdraw and we'll let you finish out your term, or we invoke the 25th amendment now. It's just another symptom of how irresponsible and corrupt they are that they made that deal with a guy they knew was gone mentally.

Tulsi Gabbard would have been a good candidate, but the party went so far left it abandoned her.

I mean......Tulsi was a democrat, Trump was a Democrat, Elon was a Democrat. The party went so hard to the left, the moderates or left leaning folks are now Republican.

If they had a Primary, maybe someone would have emerged as a great candidate. Instead the DNC tried to appoint a president. How did that work?

Authoritarian Covid Policies and the Democrat Party colluding with Social Media to censor Americans Red Pilled a shit ton of people.

I don't think you can underestimate the damage this Admin did to the DNC image.

If I remember correctly it can be argued that Repubs stole the election with Gore. Bush never had that great of approval ratings if I remember right. That being said, what you said though about policies and vision and being able to get that out the Dems had in 2016 with Sanders. The Dems screwed their own party by backing Clinton and screwing over Sanders. The same exact Sanders who won his election last night while Kamala lost.

The reason I am mentioning policies so much is because Dem and left leaning policies can pass even in very red states. Dems at large just refuse to help their own Progressive base.

Yeah, Gore and Bush were pretty much tied and the GOP's shenanigans gave Bush the nod. But it shouldn't have even gotten to that point if it was just about policy. Gore was the VP during a tremendously stable and prosperous period of US history and was far smarter. Bush kept it close just by being likable.

I agree that more progressive policy would have helped, not hurt Harris but her personal characteristics were by far the bigger factor in her loss, IMO.

My left leaning friend who hasnt cut me off (shocking i know) said he hopes ots Newsome for the nod. Also said Kamala fucked up choosing a nobody in Walz and fucked it up by not choosing Shapiro.

Im guessing Newsome/Shapiro would have done something.

Newsome's deep dive background check would probably end his chances

Newsome has a rough track record as Governor....He presents himself well but he has a lot of holes to poke into.

Democrats didn't turn out and vote so it's not just a Trump thing. People just didn't fuck with Kamala.

I don't even know. I don't see an Obama level prospect waiting in the wings. I think Buttigieg would be a great candidate but no way the country is ever going to vote for a gay person in my lifetime.

Feels like they will want to manufacture a strong Latino candidate to recapture that demographic.
The dead let the left down.

If I could post an image I'd show you.
Dems get roughly 66m every election from
2008, 2012, 2016, 2024

The only outlier is somehow the creepy old grandpa who didn't even campaign somehow got 16 million additional votes the one time there were mail in ballots and basically free for all because they used "state of emergency" "covid panic" to justify locking observers out of counts and did tons of ballot stuffing.

The dead vote Democrat.
and they really let the party down in 2024.

These numbers are shady as fuck...

Obama brought record numbers and Biden beat them by 12 million

I've never bought into the election steal but I have to say it's very bizarre that Biden got that many more votes than Obama. Or anyone.

Was bound to happen the way they backed themselves into a corner. Couldn't get shit accomplished in four years. Knew the president was senile but refused to run a real primary.

But the reason they refused is because there was no time for it. Biden dropped out in late July and running a primary will take a few months. Getting candidates sorted out, starting to fundraise, going across the country to make themselves known, then the actual voting in all 50 states, all of this takes time.

So that would have pushed it into late September or even early October just to have a "legitimate" nominee. No way in shit is one month enough to garner any momentum. Trump wins either way.

All the blame goes to Biden first, then the Democratic leadership that couldn't convince/force him to drop earlier.

Well no time because they handled it like morons. They couldn't corner him in a room somewhere in the white house and let him know what's up sooner?

They made it look like they couldn't outfox a senile old man.

They've been kicking everyone that isn't a fringe lunatic out of the party for years now. They threw it away over identity politics, then the people they sold out for didn't even show up to vote.

Apparently, a few "Democratic operatives" were suggesting that he announce he wouldn't seek reelection after the 2022 midterms. THAT would have been perfect.

And I don't know the internal workings of those super high up places but I'm thinking you can't just corner or strong arm the president of the US to get him to do what you want, especially when it's such a huge move.

This is why I place the blame on Biden first, the Democrat leadership second. Yeah, they could have pressed him harder but the ultimate decision was Biden's all along.

Only Hitler could beat Trump in the US SOuth.

Your AV cracks me up every time. I still remember when that happened. Christie holding those loaded nachos trying to act tough as he was surrounded by security. The way he waddled away after too. He should be ashamed.
