Not really at the end of his life, like when he was at the height of his fame. After Dirty Dancing I wouldn't think so, but with Tiger Warsaw I don't know. I might be crazy, but I thought I detected some bitterness. I'm not sure. Thoughts?

I don't know but his career really hit the skids in a hurry after Point Break. It was like everyone knew that role couldn't be topped. It's a real demarcation point in a long career if there ever was one.

But Point Break was a couple years after Tiger Warsaw and Swayze was giving it his all in PB.

His career was never the same when he became a drag queen minus his small role in Donnie Darko

He was already trying to regain altitude when he did that one. It didn't hurt him too much. It was somewhat in vogue to play a gay character in the early and mid 90s.

After starring in To Wong Fu,

I’m certain If it. It sunk his career

It did hurt his career, he was the tough 80s stud that became a 90s dud minus Ghost & Point Break.
Wesley Snipes was the only one who actually had some good films after but not very many.
John Lesbianzomo has never really done much in his career like the other 2 although the younger me enjoyed The Pest.

Wong Foo probably didn't really help Swayze going forward, but he was on a three movie run of disappointments as a major character before filming Wong Foo.

He did three straight movies branching out from his comfort zone with his audience (now trying Oscar bait movie, tall tale fantasy Western and a non-romantic comedy) and Wong Foo was like an even bigger departure that just continued the downslide. By the time he did Black Dog a couple movies later and after a break, and returned to an action role, it was kind of too late. The same budgets and directors weren't there and he was already starting to look middle aged since the last time out.

Which is too bad, because Point Break was itself something of a bold move, playing a villain with a different look. It had the potential to be off putting like Travolta in Battlefield Earth or super tacky but he hit it out of the park. But that was the last time he was on top of the mountain.

His magic rubbed off on to Keanu who tore through the 90s and early 00s then died off until John Wick. It's unfortunate Patrick didn't get 1 last big role before passing but at least he conquered the best decade of pretty much everything.

He had a cop show near the end that was pretty good iirc. I think they ended it when he got really sick. It was called The Beast. I may see if I can watch it.

Yeah, he went down swinging though. He was filming that TV show The Beast while he was wasting away.

Rumor has it he smelled like bologna and low tide, may he rest in peace.

I once watched a documentary about the life and death of Patrick Swayze. He was actually a really interesting dude. Very insecure about being taken seriously as an actor, and had a long battle with alcoholism.

And the tobacco with nicotine.

Swayze had been a heavy smoker for 40 years, and he once admitted to smoking 60 cigarettes a day. He stated that his chain smoking probably "had something to do with" the development of his disease. He continued to smoke cigarettes while undergoing treatment for cancer.

He was never the same once he lost the Swayze Express.
