So Gunn is off GotG3 because of some stupid shit he said on twitter.

Let's not act like all words have equal weight. It wasn't a random political statement or something. It was lots and lots of statements about how awesome raping kids is. Not somehow taken out of context, or part of a bit. No punchline to be found. Just lots of comments about raping kids being awesome. And then he works for a company that sells kids movies.

You think you could constantly make comments about how awesome child rape is, in your companies break room or common area? Or do you think they'd fire you for that? Then consider these comments weren't in front of a handful of people, but on a public platform that reaches many millions of people. Social media comments are NOT private, by their very nature they are public statements.

He got fired from GOTG3!? He's the reason those are good, and contributed a significant portion of INFINITY WAR. #jjjjhhhhaaayyyyzzzzzzz

I don't know if he's a :eek::eek::eek:, but he's a fucking idiot. At his level of public scrutiny, you cannot make comments like that and not expect there to be consequences. I'm damn sure if I made jokes about fucking kids up the ass in front of customers, I'd be shit-canned. This is effectively what Gunn did by Tweeting that shit; potential customers are going to read it and re-tweet it.

After doing some research this morning I am 100% convinced that he is in fact a :eek::eek::eek:

Guardians is still my favorite Marvel film though

His shit makes Miguel Torres' Twitter "comedy" look like a Don Knotts routine.

I just watched the video. Other than the little boys touching his silly place... wtf would you put that on twitter even if was a joke... they're seem to be mostly jokes in bad taste. btw, the giving tree kid was an adult by the time the tree died, so there's that. Lots of rape jokes ... fuck man. Get a sherdog account and make shoops in the heavies if you need to vent about rape.

on one hand, I hope he's not a :eek::eek::eek:, but on the other I hope he is so his firing wasn't just some knee jerk bullshit, and on the other hand RIP GotG3. So close...

That video shows a sick sense of humour and really nothing else. And Ben Shapiro IS garbage. Regardless of whether or not this guy is a :eek::eek::eek:.

What arguments Shapiro makes are wrong? Or are you just butthurt that you don't agree with him but you cannot debate him just as everyone else who tried and failed?

People always get up in arms about people getting fired for social media comments, but never have a real answer for my break room analogy. I've never, ever had a job where you could literally say anything you want in front of your bosses with no fear of repercussions. I've never KNOWN anyone that had a job like that. Yet people somehow expect you can say anything on social media with impunity.

It's not like a sherdog account, where you can say whatever because nobody knows who you are. He might as well have made these :eek::eek::eek: "jokes" in front of all the upper management in his company, or on the nightly news. Social media comments are in no way private. You guys know you can't say whatever you want whenever you want. No idea why you think someone under MORE scrutiny can say anything with no consequences.

In before freedom of speech comments, from people who have no clue that freedom of speech has absolutely nothing to do with employment.

I agree with most of what you're saying.

As far as I can tell, he said all this stupid shit preDisney and chilled out once in their employ. Now did he delete the posts after getting the job? Because it's incredibly stupid of Gunn to leave up shitposts if not.

And shame on @Hogey for posting that particularly crappy YT personality; if it didn't involve something as important as GotG I would have given up within 10s.

Time to villainize 90% of sherdog.

I doubt he did. Nobody ever seems to think of that. I highly, highly doubt Disney was unaware of these comments. But at the time most people weren't aware of them and there was no public outcry. I imagine he got a talk behind the scenes and was told to knock that shit off. But now we're in a culture where people are digging all this stuff up.

They weren't going to risk damage to their brand, so they played the plausible deniability card. Oh no..... we just found out about all these :eek::eek::eek: comments, and fired the guy immediately. Nothing to see here, please go see our movies.

Sherdog gets pissed at the PC culture and the sentiment wave of guilty until proven innocent, yet calls some guy a :eek::eek::eek: due to some dumbass old jokes he tweeted. Makes sense...

Disney had to fire him though. Would be a PR disaster if they didn't. Especially if he ends up being accused or some evidence comes out. Wait, has he even been accused by anyone? Those tweets are pretty old.
