I simply don't know. Jon pretended like he was going to fight Tom and then quickly retired when the UFC was actually trying to make it happen. That says a lot

Every fight is different, he fought 1 round against Gane and lost it, take it as a grain of salt.

Jones is super well rounded but he isnt exactly a striker, only god knows, fight wont ever happen.

Depends how well Tom's take down defense holds up. If Tom gets taken down he's eating damage or getting submitted. Jon is just on a level of his own for top position mma game. But he's shown a weakness to good stout punchers who can prevent his grappling game from getting going, and prevent him from establishing kick range on the feet because Jon's boxing sucks. Toms skill set is built well to try that. Him looking subpar against Gane dosen't really change that for me, because Jon can't threaten Tom on the feet like Gane does. It's just a completely different match up, Gane can threaten Tom with Feet, and Hands. And has clearly worked on his own counter grappling stifling tom's attempts. That's a style of fight Jon can't replicate.

Yes he absolutely could still beat Jones - and I don't even respect Tom all that much since the he milked the eyepoke. The truth is HW's now are faster and better and while Jon is on another league skillwise, all it takes is for one shot to crack that chin.

Funny thing is Jones has nothing to prove to no one, his 17 title wins across multiple eras speak for themselves.

In 2 years from now Aspinall will be a fart in the wind, just another HW jobber. Jon will still be the goat and he'll still have the most title wins in MMA history.

Jones got beat by Reyes and Santos. Judges got it wrong.

Tom would get taken down eventually and then subbed. Bones is a lot stronger at HW, and hasn't taken much of a beating in MMA aside from the first Gus fight.

Aspinall has monster power but sloppy defense and he's fragile. Jones will be careful enough to avoid the early power and stop him by the 4th.

Sloppy defense or not, mght be hard for Jones to beat Aspinall from jail.

The hard thing with this matchup is that it would take place at HW, where Jones has only shown that he can beat up an old, inactive former champ and submit a guy who has weak takedown defense and unproven submission defense. I would have loved to see it, though.
