I recognize he's not the best ever but I'm a massive fan. Probably my favorite fighter in the UFC fight now. Only person who can get me more excited for a fight is Jones.

Poatan is awesome.

He is a living legend of the sport right now. Once he retires his aura will be something. "Prime Poatan" will be a mytical fighter.

I think he's pretty much the most beloved fighter on Sherdog.

But let's see what the numbers reflect.

Dude it's a sport calm down

Poatan is the greatest thing to happen to the UFC in a while in my opinion. He filled the Khabib void for me. CHAMA.
Yeah.

I think him and Islam are the only 2 "stars" right now in the UFC.

Poatan is the most active champion that we have had in a very long time. While I am grateful for that, I only like him because I am a straight male with an ex wife and a girlfriend on the side.

who would hate him? jamahal hill maybe. but who else? he seems like a pretty personable guy. a little scary maybe. odd thread

I don’t know how anyone could hate the guy. He’s willing to fight anyone, anytime, and gives no indication of being an asshole.

Like.
I don’t love or hate people I don’t know.

Relax bro, think about it in the sense of him being a product in a way. It's fine for you to love watching his fights and the entertainment product you receive from that. Doesn't mean you want to marry the guy or think of him like your family member. It's the same way people say they love the UFC or a show or a restaurant etc.

Hating Poatan is like hating Kittens and puppies.

I like him and (since Jiri can't beat him) I want him to win his fights and be a good champion, but man you've got to be deluded not to see he's been fed strikers all his career, and this makes his reign kind of a sham.
Gives a bitter taste to a sweet thing, so to speak.

Who are the LHW grapplers he's been hidden from?

It's not a sham if they just dont have any.

What's not to like? He's a throw back to the old school, when guys fought often and fought all comers. His fights are exciting and he finishes. In an era of chronic inactivity, few fighters with star power, and a lot of boring neck beard wrestlers. He stands out.

Poatan was never in his prime while in the UFC. That's is one of the things that's pretty cool about him.

Well Ankalaev is a sambo champion. He's the only one now as he's only had championship fights at LHW. Clealry the rematch with Prochazka and the fight with Rountree were unnecessary - let's put it this way. Could have given the shot to Krylov at this point, he had better wins than Khalil.
But I'm talking his whole career. He faced ONE grappler in Michailidis across two weight classes.
