Imagine disliking Alex a finisher and a guy that fights often a champ who fights several times a year imagine that! The only people who dislike him are fans of guys he's beat simple as.

I think it was a combination of fast tracking him, but also Brunson and Vettori are just not exciting fighters. It would be bad business probably to put him in there with them. Especially Vettori, who is nigh indestructable.

But now that he's on top, he gotta fight whoever deserves it.
I don't disagree but it still resulted in him getting an easy path.
I still consider Adesanya a much more proven MMA fighter since he fought and beat some decent grapplers who gameplanned to take him down and maul him. Izzy was able to completely negate their games.
Poatan's reign is a mix of greatness, convenient timing and favoritism. This fight with Ankalaev is the first problematic matchup he's had. But if he passes this test I will acknowledge him as a truly great MMA fighter with no buts or asterisks.

He was teleported to a TS after beating two strikers. There was a number of decent grapplers he could have fought like Brunson, Allen, Vettori.
Yes I know MW was a wasteland and Izzy needed a fresh challenger. Still don't mean he wasn't protected.
Allen was no where in the division not even on the map at the time. Brunson also not in the title picture at all. Vettori maybe he could have fought but In most scenarios, people whom have lost to the champ twice don't typically get to fight up and coming contenders they OFTEN keep those fighters away from new contenders. That's why he fought strickland they were both two contenders who had not yet fought izzy. I see why you say it's protection but a match up like poatan vs Vettori is just no the type of match up the ufc usually makes to begin with.

Jan Blachowicz took Adesanya down with ease but was unable to do the same to Poatan

A bit of both, as I like his patient style reading the opponent before landing something bigger. While I don't think it's fair to other fighters how he's been matched. Strickland was a crazy step-up after struggling with Bruno. But I love how he gave Sean a false sense of being the more effective striker, leading to the kill.
Strickland's style just cant work against Poatan. It requires him to be too stationary, and Poatan is too big, if someone got a longer reach than Strickland, combined with the deadly one hit quit power Poatan has, Strickland's style cant hold up.

Like him for sure. Will always tune in and get excited for his fights.

Love tier fighters for me are guys I've followed since the beginning of their careers that have captivated my admiration. Its only a select few for me.

Kazushi Sakuraba
Rashad Evans
GSP
Shogun
Andy
Aldo

I used to really like him and rooted in favor of him for both of the Adesanya fights. After the Jamahal Hill fight, I think he has started to turn into a celebrity. The whole CHAMA thing has been so overplayed especially with his fans that it is beginning to get annoying.

Also, the fact that he is a totally weird dude. He went to Strickland's corner in the Dricus fight for no other reason by admission of everyone in the corner, to stare at Dricus. Apparently, all he did in the 5 rounds, was stare at Dricus and nothing else. It is borderline creepy. Once all of these things started to add up, I became rather indifferent.

Now, with the Ankalaev fight, he was out in Australia being swarmed by fans and doing all kinds of celebrity stuff while Ankalaev was in the mountains training hard for the fight. The sharp contrast in the lead up to the fight, had made it clear that Ankalaev was taking the fight more seriously than Poatan.

I like him, fun style and active champion. However, like most popular fighters, he has amassed a good amount of fanboys which I find to be obnoxious. At times makes me root against him just a bit even though I like him.

I think a major factor as well is that Izzy's career has imploded so hating Alex is all a lot of his fans have left.

Only contrarians. There are a few, but it is fairly ridiculous.

This bizz is COLD BLOODED

Izzy finally beats Poatan and it all goes to shit after.

Anyone who is an active champion these days gets love from me. Although if he gets delusional and wants to box Usyk he might drop out of my heart.

You are so sickening it’s a joke now.
I couldnt hear you, had my headphones on.
