I also haven't had the flu since I was 12.

You the man Bobby!

Last time I got the flu was like 6 years ago or so ... was from my now wife, at CHRISTMAS!!!

I drank rum and cokes and had a fried chicken TV dinner cause my wife was too sick to cook ... so there wasn't good things in my body to begin with ...

I was laying naked in the bathroom covered in sweat and the room was spinning, I couldn't leave cause it was coming out both ends.

Then maybe 10 years or so ago I thought I was dying for sure, had to cab to the hospital which was only a few houses away at the time. I was dry heaving into a random pail I found and I couldn't even hold down water. Was admitted and soiled myself so they gave me some hospital pants to borrow ... and I soiled those too and had to ask for yet another pair of hospital pants while I was being fed intravenously

your relative health is a permanent thing

NOTHING is a permanent thing.
I've had the flu before. I just don't care enough to get a shot. There's no 'reason' behind it, other than I really don't care. If the flu takes me out, and I pass it on and it takes out other people too, than so be it. Not like the world is running out of these humans anyway.

Don't care about your own health, don't care about the health of others.
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the reason there's a "flu season".

I also don't wash my hands after taking a shit and make sure to touch EVERYTHING after.

You are aptly named, sir, and i respect your no-fucks-given recklessness.

Nope, and I've never been sick.
Same here.

I definitely didn't get the H1N1 shot when that was supposed to be the downfall of mankind. I knew two people that got it and were sick as hell for a week after....

Anti-Vaxxers yo!

To be fair I do think we coddle our immune systems too much, using hand sanitizer all the time ... getting flu shots....

We're weakening ourself as a species, our bodies need to have full access to germs so our immune system can practive and learn to protect ourselves. Just like doing push ups to build muscle, or studying for a test.

There are so many misconceptions about the flu shot, probably because no one seems to know what influenza actually is.

Everyone seems to have taken to calling any stomach bug or upper respiratory infection "a flu". Stomach flu. 24 hour flu. Etc. It's all bullshit. There are hundreds of mild viruses that cause these symptoms, none of them are influenza, and none of them are meant to be reduced by getting the flu shot. So when you see someone complain their flu shot didn't work because they threw up for two days in February, tell them to stfu, because that wasn't the flu.

If you're a young adult who is immunocompetent and is not pregnant, your chances of serious disability or death from influenza are pretty low. Medical staff are encouraged to get the shot not because they're worried about the health of their workers, but so that medical workers are less likely to contract the flu, and then kill off half a geriatric ward then they spread it.

When people say "I don't ever get sick I don't see any reason to get it", it's not for you. It's for all the young, elderly and those with shitty immune systems you live around. If you're not in a risk group, or around risky individuals, it's less clear what your choice should be. And with that said, no, I haven't had a flu shot in over 10 years at least because I know the flu won't kill me or anyone else I live with.

Anti-Vaxxers yo!

Same with SARS

I wouldnèt say Ièm an Anti-Vaxxer. Iève had vaccinations when I was in elementary, but every child did (Donèt believe they were for the flu, though). Iève never had a vaccination since elementary, though. I just never get sick sans a cold every blue moon.
What language are you speaking!

I was joking btw about the anti-vaxxer thing.

Same here.
I could refuse it, but I don't know a reason not to get it.
I do. The one from 2014 fucked my shit up for weeks. "deactivated virus" my ass. I was never that sick from the ACTUAL flu. I wasn't the only one, either.

only have once, when i was kid
the doctor made my whole family get it bc my little sister has heart condition and idk thats the reason the doctor gave for it being necessary
tho that was only year the doctor was pushy about it so???

I haven't had one since i was a kid and I'm just now starting to feel better after having the Flu all week. Had all week off of work, vomiting, shivering, 103 fever. Still light headed and dealing with blood in my mucus. It's terrible.
