Oh they were nice enough I guess.

My wife and daughter both almost died when my wife gave birth and because my insurance sucked, they had to be in different hospitals that were about 60 miles apart. I was driving back and forth barely sleeping, very stressed. One day I said, shit, I need to go home and sleep for a few hours. I just was wiped out. When I got home, their minister or whatever mormons call them was waiting for me in my driveway, just weird timing. I barely knew the guy and he gets out of his car and he has a gift for my wife, which I thought was pretty nice. Then I realized he was waiting for me to invite him in and talk to him and I was just so tired that I couldn't do it. I told him so too, I said look, I'm too tired to make an excuse. I need to go in and go to bed and I could tell he was sort of put off by it but he handled it OK. My wife was pissed about it.

At the worst times, I swear they'd show up. Missionaries would come by every month or so and they were always trying to get money. My wife knows me well enough though that I never had to deal with it. I just don't have the patience. They're total strangers and I don't want to pretend to like them while they solicit us for money.

Her sister is way into and has them over for dinner and shit when they come up.

Weird as it may sound, especially since I live half a block from the main Mormon temple here in SLC, I have very rarely been approached by missionaries. When I have been, I was cool with it, because I actually enjoy religious discussions (and also because a lot of times the missionaries tend to be pretty cute females.

They never get too pushy with me. I think it's because I've studied enough that I'm throwing shit out there that they don't know how to deal with so they just kind of leave.

Well, I think anybody would've fell into sin like Adam & Eve did. They had a choice to trust and obey God or to disobey Him and they chose to disobey him. Therefore they sinned against God, thus cursing mankind with sin. We are all therefore born to be sinners. You never wonder why as babies - toddlers - kids - teens and onward we are taught or told not to do wrong, ever wonder why that is? It's because we are born into sin. We are told to not lie or steal and so on and that's because we are born that way because of Adam's disobedience to God. There's a way where we as sinners can be redeemed and that's only because of Christ. Because of one man we are cursed in sin, but because of another man, Christ, we can be free and forgiven for our sins. Christ has defeated sin and has given us a way back to God. Christ is the only way. I truly believe that.

So we're "born into sin." Is that really OUR fault though? I mean, should a child who's born into cancer be blamed for her condition?

I think that's a good attitude. And not sure what it is, what the little shit just doesn't mean much to me without an understanding of its larger context. I need a purpose.

You don't need shit, dude. I think we all feel unfulfilled. I do. But there's so much good with the bad. We don't stop and appreciate the good enough.

Anyone who believes in gods , spirits , higher power crap is a waste of a human brain .
Your "brain" is not everlasting.
It'll die just like the rest of your
body. Who's to say that those
who spend even SOME time
trying to understand & or those
who work to sharpen, these
personally transcendent, sacred
& ancient forms of consciousness
& connection- are in fact the ones
"wasting time"? Perhaps by
ignoring these things, you'll face
death without a full deck.

Or perhaps not.
But im of the belief that there
is a consciousness beyond the
mind. I think it's more of a
"waste" to think in such
absolutes like yourself.

Yes it's our fault just like it will be our fault if we ignore God's gift of salvation. Cancer only exists because of sin which is our fault.

I honestly blame the Internet. And that's not a joke. I think the Internet has fucked shit up for humanity.
Maybe knowledge has a tendency to expand the horizons of possibility which in turn creates that "hole" or emptiness of what to do with the knowledge/ purpose.

Sometimes i wonder if living back as a caveman would be a happier existence, as you would be more likely to operate to the fullest of your potential and thus be living a purposeful life?

I think biologically we haven't changed much from our ancestors, but from time to time we feel that discomfort of culture changing far faster than we are geared for.

So you are prepared to accept a sentence that was applied to you before conscious thought even began within your brain?

Here comes the Jesus freaks and spiritual losers . Militiant atheists unite

Why are you so satisfied with a lack of fulfillment?

Personally, I'm fulfilled because i truly love my friends and family. I fucking love the people in my life. So much.

I can spend time being bummed about how not everything is ideal, or i can make an effort to appreciate what I'm lucky to have.

Interesting you say that. I do sometimes feel like too much knowledge can actually act as a destructive element in our lives.

And then, at the same time, we have have to deal with anti-knowlege (i.e. disinformation/misinformation) which just throws everything into doubt. Today we have to live in this constant state of not knowing what to really believe, what is true, etc. That is devastating.

Hi ts

I can totally resonate with you.

I been a Christian my whole life, however I was a hypocrite. I still did things that displeased God.
So I backslid, repented, went back, blackslid again. I keep doing this, and was totally spiritually dead. Until I said enough is enough.
You only get true peace and forgiveness of sin and have an amazing relationship with God through our Lord Jesus.
Since I done that I have found peace. I am not saying life gets easier, but you the Lord helping you get through it. Unfortunately there is no fear of God now days and man is acting like devils. If you have questions about certain things check out sermon audio com. Its 100% truth, not the fluff Joel Osteen type of preaching, which is man pleasing , not God pleasing.

You said yourself:

"I think we all feel unfulfilled. I do."

Are you now saying you misspoke?

I had done in the past. Since finding Traditional Catholicism no - aside from something known as "spiritual desolations" but they're unknown outisde of Catholicism so providing context would be an exercise in futility.

Let's just say "no".

Adam sinned.
Therefore we are born into sin.
Hell is the penalty for sin.
God gave us a way to be forgiven for our sins when He became flesh and died, was buried and then was resurrected.
Trusting in Christ and believing in what He did for us is the only way to be forgiven. That's according to the Bible. So yes, I do accept this.

Let me ask you this:

Would you be willing to go to prison for a crime your father committed?

I think you should stop playing the victim card but instead humble yourself and I say this respectfully. Whether you believe it or accept it, it's why we all sin.
