Do you consider Belal's performance last night boring?

I'm just curious because, to me, it looked like Belal was bringing the heat the entire time. He was roasting Leon on the feet and was constantly trying to finish on the ground.

Leon, to his credit, had some great reversals last night. I never expected him to threaten Belal on the ground, but those were also the only times I felt the fight was slow and someone was stalling (not counting the end of the fifth).

(Also, I enjoyed the fifth round where the commentators were explaining to the fans that they were idiots for booing because this isn't a kidkboxing match. Leon did great at the end of the fight, but too little too late. Can you imagine if Leon mauled Belal like that earlier?)
In terms of action and excitement the fight was mediocre in my opinion, not super boring, also not all that exciting, a 5 out of 10.

But the fact it was Belal vs Edwards made it less interesting if I'm being honest, the fight itself may not have been that boring, but the fact that it was those two fighters combined with the fact that there was no knockdowns or big moments in striking, I can see how many might way it was kinda lame.

Constantly trying to finish on the ground? Are you fucking serious?

Yes the fight was shit and I doubt I will ever watch it again in my life.

It was not a terrible fight and at least there was some action on the ground. It was not a total wrestler blanket fest. He looked OK on his feet and did a great job of making Mr. BOOM headshot look like shit in the striking department.

not at all. i enjoyed it. dude can use his odd body ratios or proportions to his advantage

It wasn’t boring, but at no point did I feel like either fighter was a threat to win by submission, despite all the back takes. Just doesn’t feel like they have that skill set, which takes away a lot of tension and makes the fight way less exciting

I think you're imaging his "constantly trying to finish on the ground." He was the poster boy for control time to secure winning the round.

That being said his stand up was entertaining and he brought constant pressure. Leon is a good enough grappler that even when we're in lay n pray situations we'd get some exciting grappling too.

It's great to see belal get his after all the shit fans and UFC management put him threw. Giving that pos Colby a fight so he could do nothing while a dog like Belal was here ready for war absolute trash. This fight 100* better than that.

Yes.

I like active grappling but using wrestling just to control someone for 5 minutes of every round isn't my thing.

No, I really enjoyed it. Belal knows his identity and sticks to it. Too many wrestlers think they are world-class strikers and don't use their wrestling wisely. Belal uses enough striking to back a fighter into the cage and then switches to a double. My only criticism would have been Belal goes to the back mount too often, even when it costs him position. Other than that, I really enjoy seeing a guy using basic double leg to stifle opponents.

He brought the pressure. Just made real no attempt to take the fight to a finish. Zero real ground strikes with his ground control. No real submission threats.
The fight had Belal spending 12+ minutes doing nothing but holding him down. Also had 7 minutes of Leon on his back / on top but at least submission attempts and nasty elbows were present. So around 19 minutes of the fight was just that. Add the time in the clinch and transitioning and you got only a few minutes of action fighting taking place.

Overall great job by Belal. Leon looked extremely off almost worse than the first Usman fight. That being said I think if this was any other fighter than Belal people might be turned off by the performance. For Belal it was a better performance and the expectations of excitement are quite low. He did a great job and got the title but that fight won’t go down in history as an exciting fight unless you’re a big fan of Belal.

Not at all. He could have sat down on his punches a bit more and tried to do more when he had back control but the way he shut Leon down was impressive.

No. I enjoyed it. It was Khabib esque. Khabib would have really mauled leon on the ground though if he got the same wrestling success.

He destroyed Leon in the stand up as well.

The shootboxing was beautiful.

no. i enjoy grappling and have competed for years so my opinion is kinda biased but, striking is a more enjoyable to watch i agree. but belal looked fantastic. it was a great fight.
