And, I've pointed this out 101 times in these threads, none of you guys even understand the real solutions, as most of them would involve making middle and lower class people's lives better. Ya, it's going to take an enormous multi facetted world wide effort with sequestration being a small part of the solution. And you're right, renewables will need to become more reliable/sustainable to power sequestration, and sequestration will need to become more energy efficient. Hopefully we'll get there.

Some of you guys need to watch Life On Our Planet. It is a Netflix series with God (morgan Freeman narrating). The fragile but also amazing ability to bounce back is this planets history for billions of years. Several mass extinctions--Volcanic eruptions, Meteors, continental drift, lack of oxygen in the oceans, and yes climate change was a factor in most of them. Over our history the planet will cool and heat up to the point of extinctions. Do I believe we could help that along? It is possible but not at the levels some would make us think. We have had periods of intense pollution during the industrial revolution that was worse than now.

I agree with you that motivating the largest polluters to curb their excess is the way. I think you need to reduce one's own as well without impacting economic development. The whole green industry where people just try to get rich off selling more expensive stuff off of people's conscious is counter productive.

Agreed, but I don't think one has to address man made climate change or homelessness, for example. I think one can do both. I'm more keen on economic incentives towards better behaviour rather than taxation, with outright bans on the worst behaviour.

I think also that the economic impact of climate change is vastly more than any spend to combat it. It's worth looking at the total cost over time when calculating the relative value.

What are you basing this on? Your background in physics and solid understanding of the topic? Or you just feel like it might be true, because, reasons?

And, you may want to look into Morgan Freeman's thoughts on the subject, given that you think he's god.

My distrust of the science is that its potentially greatly underestimating the threat in order to stick to "targets" that the current neoliberal status quo is happy with.

The potential for feedback loops with things like the release of methane from permafrost could I suspect lead to far worse warming than most predictions.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure even drastic action is too late now to avoid large scale human suffering in the coming years and decades.
