I'm curious if Ankalaev was offered the UFC 307 title shot. I have a strong suspicion that he was and turned it down, but I honestly have no clue.

It would be pretty dirty if the UFC scheduled Ankalaev for UFC 308 and then turned around and booked Pereira vs Roundtree right after...

I really think he influence the draw decision. I recall Ank was a -400 live betting and that was before the 5th round where he 10-8 Jan. And almost all media writers gave it to Ank. Baldy knew that if magomed became champ he was going to have a long title reign and that’s bad for Dana’s pocket.

307 and 308 are only a few weeks apart, so unless Ankalaev was adamant about only fighting in Abu Dhabi then it looks like a snub. I get wanting Pereira to headline 307 but the Etihad card is already stacked to the brim, there's no good reason why Ankalaev can't be the one fighting Alex.
