Elections DNC today in Chicago

The counter to dems installing a candidate with no primary votes and was unpopular is to say Trump's supporters are "weird" too? Never seen that argument before.

How many primary votes did Mike Pence get?

And hanging on to this? It's just plain weird...

Again, the trolling and gaslighting (?) accusations are bizarre. Do you really think everyone is an unthinking supporter of the GOP?

And your claim was proved false by the evidence I provided (and I could have even added more). You're just trying to redefine terms to match up with Republican propaganda and you're mad that it's not working. If you really have a problem with pharma profits being excessive, you should be cheering on Biden's decision to allow Medicare to negotiate for lower drug prices and for caps on certain prices. Why aren't you?

Ok Jack you're right. Left wingers weren't in lockstep with big pharma and the government during covid. That must have never happened. Take care now.

Did you watch those videos?
I already have the information you're speaking of, but I don't see them as being any different than most other outlets.

Can you acknowledge that point without trying to teach me something you think I already don't know??

If you think you have a source that isn't that way, why don't you tell me what you think it is?

I absolutely don't.

He's earned every drop of negative attention he gets and the expression "TDS" was coined to dismiss that attention. The only reason I consider flawed criticisms a mistake is because they're used to dismiss the metric fuckton of valid ones.
100%. It's a huge mistake. And it goes far beyond flawed.

His wife was accused of wearing the wrong type of shoes. They often twist Trump's words (bloodbath for example). Why? Trump says horrible shit that doesn't leave any place for interpretation.

Your reading comprehension isn't very good, is it? I don't think that "vaccines work" is a "pro-Big Pharma" position. It's just objectively true. But if you look at policy, Democrats have cut into Big Pharma profits with stuff like allowing Medicare to negotiate for lower drug prices, and that's something that Republicans have bitterly opposed. I pointed out to you that if you're anti-Big Pharma, you should really support that policy and have a strong preference for Democrats over Republicans, and you didn't respond at all and just changed the subject again. Can I take that to mean that you were not sincere?

Who accused his wife of wearing the wrong type of shoes? I have no idea what you're even talking about, but if you're just saying that some of the 8 billion people on Earth have said stuff about Trump or people connected to him that is untrue, that is trivially true. It doesn't undermine the vast amount of legitimate criticism he's gotten unless you're looking for a reason to dismiss it.

I'm not dismissing anything, but crying wolf comes with a price. That's all I'm saying.

I was just curious as to if you actually watched those videos because I think they do a good job of demonstrating their blind spots but I don't necessarily expect anyone to watch them.

Alternative media is IMO generally less reliable than mainstream outlets so I would not equate Breaking Points with NPR or other more reputable sources. Of course every media org is going to have some biases even if unconscious ones but I think alternative media and especially online populist leaning media has a problem with their fact checking standards.

Even when FOX News was blatantly lying about the 2020 election they had internal fact checkers, called the "brain room", flagging all the false claims despite pundits like Carlson ignoring their warnings. Idk if Breaking Points even has fact checkers.

And what I'm saying is that you're looking at all Trump critics as a monolith. An individual person who was involved in this shoe criticism you're referring to may well have less credibility, but how would that affect the credibility of someone who wasn't involved?

The problem is that Trump is such an odious person with so many skeletons in his closet and so many unsavory inclinations that even if you reported on all his faults in a perfectly true and valid way it would still come off as "TDS" to his supporters. Notice with the Jan 6th stuff I go on and on about I put effort to cite my sources, link them, and quote the relevant parts and that gets interpreted as me becoming partisan or extreme. You can't let such folks use bad faith nitpicks to silence good faith criticisms of Trump.

I don't see it as a monolith, I see it as people representing a party, which we are.

Can't disagree with that. They'll justify anything.

But some rando on Twitter is not people representing a party. They're speaking on their own behalf. If it were coming from Jeffries or Harris or something, you'd be justified in saying that.

I did find it funny when Barrack mentioned Tim's closet the other night.

Partially agree. Yes, it would have more weight if it came from a politician.

We, as Democrat voters, still represent the party and its values.

There was a shitstorm on Social Media too.

Mr.Holmes claims to be a centrist? By that standard I guess Ted Cruz is a centrist
Yeah, it's really weird. 95% of the guy's posts are just angry one-liners or gifs when he gets mad at people for disagreeing with GOP talking points. He's as centrist as Whippy or Cottage. Don't know WTF @The Diplomat is thinking.
Yeah. Wtf was that guy thinking?

It's called not taking everything to 100%. It was a joke, fellas. Satirical.
