Faults or no, he’s one of the greatest presidents of the modern era. Maybe the greatest of my lifetime. Certainly one of the greatest orators.

I worked with a guy who was Albanian, who told me they call him “Baba Clinton,” which means “Papa/Father Clinton.” He said to me, “I don’t care what his faults are, when my people were being massacred, he set us free. To us, he’s Baba Clinton.”

It's Billy time.

I always try to separate the art from the artist when it comes to Bill Clinton. If there's anyone I have to (Jeffrey Jones, Roman Polanski, Chris Benoit, all heros who i cant watch anymore) I'd rather it be the guy who balanced the budget and kept us strong in the 90s.

I wasn't living here then so I don't go to town other than what I saw from afar. All we really knew in the UK was the affair and not much else happened.

His wife's speech compared to this so far though, she killed it.

At 78, dying it sounds like, Bill Clinton is still one of the greatest orators in America.

He's the most prolific speaker in DNC history. I dunno anybody who really dislikes him, either. The 90s were a really good time for a great many people - hopefully it was your childhood - and Bill is indelibly associated with the decade.

Next time you see him, don't count the lies, count the "I"s. Love that.

DNC history? Obama was better. His 2004 speech was as a junior senator, 2008 he was president.

Man, I was such a Chris Benoit mark I know exactly what you mean.

I agree. I know that Clinton has personal faults, and he had political faults.
When he took office, we were in a recession, which Bush Senior had left us. I was 14 going on 15, my lower middle class parents had moved up a bit economically, and bought a new house in a nice neighborhood—and my dad got laid off. My mom was still a waitress—she’d land a much better job later in the Clinton years—but at that time, still a waitress, and we survived on her income and my dad’s unemployment benefits. Those were hard times, but by the end of Clinton’s term, the economy was booming. We were doing well, America was doing well, the budget was balanced, and we had a surplus.
