Elections DNC today in Chicago

This is the smartest thing I've seen on the internet in a long time.

People at the DNC convention seem to actually believe that if Kamala is elected this will make things better. Never mind that's she's been in power for years and has accomplished nothing. Nothing, interestingly, would be way better than the results if she wins and actually gets to try price controls.
She hasn't been in power, and if you're looking at her as a part of the current presidential administration, she's done a LOT. Dumb post all around.

It's unrealized gains of the ultrawealthy (nine-figure net worth and above). Still a bad idea, IMO, and extremely unlikely to happen for that reason. One huge asymmetry between the parties is that when a Democratic candidate proposes a bad idea, Democratic policy analysts (and, importantly, staffers) tell them it's a bad idea, and it gets MSM criticism, and it doesn't happen. When a Republican candidate proposes a bad idea (like huge regressive tax cuts, only partly offset by huge tariffs), there are no GOP analysts acting in good faith to say it's bad, and it just gets defended in the media that Republicans consume.

It seems like there is some meat on the bone somewhere that deserves looking at considering how these unrealized gains are used to collateralize loans.

So if not directly taxing it, some way to alter the behavior into taxable income. The whole process seems very shady especially when we're talking about how the value is used for loans and to skirt around income taxes.

The very rich have learned how to be very rich without having much income to tax and we ought to address these types of loopholes.

There is nothing dangerous about taxing unrealized gains. Stop buying into billionaire's fear mongering.

How is it anymore dangerous to tax unrealized gains than it is to loan money based off those same unrealized gains which we do constantly?

I'm thinking about myself, not the pocketbooks of billionaires. If I say we should all be paying less taxes, that includes the rich, middle class and poor. That doesn't mean I'm carrying water for anyone specifically in that group. I'm carrying water for people in general. The Government is taking advantage of all of us by overtaxing us and underperforming.

I don't loan money but the situation you explained there should be risky for the loan issuer. I'm talking about policies that are dangerous for the American people. Taxing American's on money that they aren't even in possession of is very dangerous. In the end, you will lose a lot of money to the government and you will not get it back through tax write offs when your unrealized gains lose value. It's just simply not a smart thing to vote for unless you just want to keep feeding the government more of your time and money.

If that's what you want to do, then go make a donation to the government and volunteer a bunch of your time to them because you're vote is forcing other people to have to do that when they don't want to.

There is nothing dangerous for ordinary people when we're talking about taxing the 1% of the 1%.

In Trump’s defense, he is a fan of the late, great (?) Hannibal Lecter, although he’s yet to clarify his position on Brian Cox vs Anthony Hopkins.

Those loans have to be paid back with realized gains. We should also raise estate taxes, which could cover all that. And as always, taxing unimproved land values and things we want less of would be ideal.

Democrat Party Platform - Legalize All Illegal Aliens (Social Security, ID's, Right to Vote)

It's all there in the U.S. Citizenship Act.

Here is the Democrat Platform, page 70 of 92.

"As outlined in the U.S. Citizenship Act, Congress must act to increase the number of family-sponsored and employment-based immigrant visas that are available each fiscal year so that people aren't forced to wait decades for a visa. Legislation should also include provisions to ensure that children who came as dependents on their parents' temporary visas can remain in the United States with their families, even after turning 21, provisions to streamline applications of at-risk Afghan allies to the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program, and a process for Afghan evacuees to have their status adjusted to lawful permanent resident."

They would then be eligible to receive ID cards, Social Security Numbers, the right to vote, and to join the military. In other words, they would become citizens in all but name.

Sure I get that, but what I mean is clearly there is a process that exists to determine the value to either extract revenue or disincentivize the behavior.

Protests, police with massive number of arrests !

Having a visa does not make you eligible to vote.

Higher (and better-designed) estate taxes would extract that value.
