Law Disney Special District repeal might cost Floridians $1 Billion

What do you mean by this?
They were paying their fair share weren't they? It was after stating they'd stop the political contributions that they got slapped down. I'm sure they have their legal team ready so let's wait to see just how bad this slapdown was compared to cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I totally mixed this up with another story so just ignore my comment. My bad fellas!

That's a long way of saying "no, you!".

All you do on every topic is type 900 paragraphs that repeats the same partisan bullshit you all are spewing in tandem. You're not thoughtful or insightful. You're a predictable windbag.
It’s telling when you can predict what some posters will say in a issue. NPC’s are the mist predictable. That goes for both parties

Desantis had a townhall last night and was asked about this. Doesn't go into the details too much (will have a press hearing on it in the coming weeks), but basically says what I had been saying, which is:

Disney is going to be paying a bunch of new taxes, so paying for it (the debt) with those taxes. As I said, even if it tax revenue from Disney paying for it, that is still Disney paying for it.

That Disney will still be paying for its own services, which seems to align with what I was saying about how the county will provide basic services, but Disney can hire its own employees to take care of things to match their higher level of service.

Moreover, he mentions legislative action, which I also mentioned would likely happen.. where the state can pass something to initially cover the debt and then the county can pay it back with the increased tax revenue from Disney. (the county is already in a tax surplus as per the budget I posted).

Also calls out the the media for all jumping on this article as a "gotcha", though it is framed poorly and not logical, which I also pointed out.

seems he got his talking points from my amazing sherdog posting

The Dark Side Of Disney

Yeah, Disney is weird as fuck. I recall finding the "sex" cloud in Lion King and showing it to everyone years ago.

There was a cock on the cover of the Little Mermaid VHS tape.

The company has a fucked up history of shit like this.

Heads already rolling at Disney over this, yet I am to believe the legislature fucked tho? Be logical here people, lol

Doesn't look good for them and the idea that it's the other side that fucked up. They'll have an Obama acolyte waiting to replace him nevertheless.

This is looking like the other disney thread, might suffer the same fate lol.

More heads going to roll for sure too. Disney is one of the top, if not the worst performing Dow Jones stock of the last 52-weeks. At a certain point, share holders should hold disney accountable. Obviously their woke push is backfiring financially.

Was saying the samr thing about the Twitter board in the Musk thread. Their woke policies, censorship, etc, have pushed so many people away, caused competitors to emerge, and has crushed their stock. Down from like 70 something a year ago, to like 30 something when Musk first bought some. And that is why no firm came in to outbid him, cause it is already over valued cause they killed it and have been inflating their numbers for years (which they even admit now).

Netflix also getting crushed now. I mean, the market is about to take a hit, but these companies have legit lost money with their policies,, rather than just market flux

He did not say that though. He said Disney MIGHT pay more taxes under the new rules and not that they 'would'.

On his broader point that they will create new legislation to try and make Disney be the one to pay out the bonds, we have all seen this movie before, right? I mean, lets not be stupid and deny history and the politicking of this stuff prior to the election and then who ACTUALLY pays for it after...

You are making the EXACT same nonsense arguments Trump did after it was shown his rhetoric about making Mexico pay for the wall was all BS and the switch then to 'we will get the money in other ways'.

Will you ever get over your TDS?

Absolutely.

It's a crude statement, but pointing out that these types of people would "eat shit if their enemies had to smell their breath" is not inaccurate. This is passing a law with retaliation, as political vengeance, first and foremost in mind. Possibly $1 billion in taxpayer costs so this dick can try to score some cheap political points.

They're expensive political points, but outrage politics, and culture war BS may very well make DeSantis the next president. As a general rule Americans are very happy to blame whoever is currently in charge and ignore what caused the actual problem (our current inflation for example).

Politicians have always been willing to take the short-term victory and ignore the long-term costs that will take effect when they're no longer in office.

But the Republican base does seem to be more forgiving of that behavior. I can't think of a better example than Ronald Reagan who is the poster boy for conservative leadership despite kicking off explosive growth in national debt; an issue that conservatives would campaign on railing against for the next three decades. In the end all that mattered was that the economy looked great during his administration. No one cared that it would cost George HW Bush his presidency a few years later.

No, no, no! This is really good for Disney! They're laughing all the way to the bank! They were actually doing the state a favor by keeping their special privileges! This has freed them form their chains! HAHAHA! Desantis is so dumb!

Just look at this too, which not only shows I was accurate on what the purpose of the article in the OP was, which was to focus on one comment by the tax collector about omg this move is going to increase taxes or whatever by some ridiculous percentage. Followed by a bunch of legal fluff to make it seems like "omg this is so well supported and thought out!"

But Newsom, who is basically the direct contrast to Desantis, both in how the govern, but also they bare the young, strong leaders of their parties and could very well face each other in a presidential election.... but not only does he push this #blueAnon narrative...

but how hypocritical is he? Remember the Cali highspeed rail originally budgeted for 80 billion is now estimated to be costing over 100 billion and likely to go up even further

Imagine them running against each other and on the debate stage, Newsom brings this up and then Desantis curb stomps him with something like that. (also funny that one faced a recall election and one is leading by double digits in a poll for their upcoming election).

You probably already know this guy stepped down and has been replaced by a Biden insider. The guy had only been there for three months and didn't have a vested interest in fighting your ridiculous culture wars, but his replacement will. Job well done.

Disney lawyers are presenting just how much Florida is going to have to pay for this ridiculous move, but it's funny watching conservative media desperately spin everything that's happening into whatever victory they can pretend is happening. This has been catastrophic for Florida and accomplished nothing.

Just out of curiosity, how do you feel about Abbott's recent stunt in Texas? It also accomplished nothing but cost America nine billion dollars.

I just don't don't want to see kindergarteners sexualized. I don't need to see the first grade classroom become a platform for validating weird teachers. Thats all that matters to me in this whole thing.
You can call it whatever you want, I'm glad Disney got spanked for their attempt.

How is teaching a child that two men can love each other have anything to do with sex?

You guys keep saying this, and I would agree that sexualizing children is wrong. But acknowledging that some people are gay does not imply anything about the graphical gay sex that you guys automatically inject in to the conversation.

It's like me saying that exposing kids to the Cinderella love story is "sexualizing" kids by teaching them about gang bangs, pornstars, and any other heterosexual sex act you can think of.

Sex is but one aspect of being gay. Just as sex is but one aspect of being straight. People can have loving relationships and all that this entails regardless of the type of sex they practice and teaching kids to be accepting of others who are different from them has nothing to do with sex.
