Just look at Roger Gracie who admitted to training only 4-5 weeks without gi before this year
 
Personaly I feel no gi should be the obvious choise if you are interested to compete in mma atleast. When training for mma I think you dont have a lot of time to waste to learn skills that wont be aplicable in an mma fight.

yeah most guys i see on the street are wearing a pair of grappling shorts and dont have a shirt on.
