I watched the fight and thought Tibau won all 3 rounds. Khabib was booed heavily when the decision was announced. Only MMAJunkie had it for Khabib.

Judges in this fight were awfully uneducated and considered failed attacks more effective that thwarted takedown attempts and effective counterstriking

The similar idiot judge had RDA beating Tibau too.
Luckily, other two were less ignorant.
 
Tibau: zero control time on the ground or near the cage. Khabib: several minutes worth of control time near the cage. Tibau got the takedowns, but never established a dominant position and, again, had zero control time on the ground. Khabib won the effective grappling scoring criteria. The effective striking scoring criteria was won by no one, but Khabib did more damage. Thus, Khabib won the fight before the secondary scoring criteria of octagon control and aggression (Khabib won both as well) had to be brought in to decide the winner.

Khabib by UD without losing even a single round. Anyone scoring the fight differently is a cazzie who has no clue how fights are scored.

He did what he had to do to win. I never had a problem with the decision and I probably watched the fight a dozen times. Gleison had that "fighting not to lose" style and Khabib was pressing the action. You don't really gain the judges favor by only stuffing takedowns.

Haven't watched the fight for a few years though honestly.
 
It was a boring, tepid fight. But they got it right.

When it's all said and done you had basically an even striking match with one fighter avoiding/evading the other fighter. Effectively avoiding and evading to be sure, but avoiding and evading nonetheless.

If you have one guy attempting and failing TD's the whole fight and the other guy doing nothing but defending them, the guy attempting them will win, because of aggression and octagon control. And rightfully so.

If you want to go and do a deep dive, you can't ignore Tibau's PED use.

The guy's steroids were taking steroids.

I'm pretty sure at one point he had the largest cut at LW in the UFC.

The opinions of those "MMA analysts" are as authoritative as random shitposts on Sherdog. Having a bigger platform to speak from does not make your opinion inherently more valuable.
 
Judges know less than the average sherdogger, most aren't even fans
