He wanted special treatment, and to not have to promote the fight, thinking he was a big enough star that the UFC would have to just accept it because he's irreplaceable. Well, they did replace him and put together the best card I've ever seen, and he loses out on all that undercard support to get his PPV points, and there isn't nearly as much Conor talk like there was. Did he shoot himself in the foot? Is there any chance UFC 202 does nearly as well as UFC 200, or did he just prove that he is another cog in the hype machine?

The only thing he did was delay his paycheck by a month. UFC 202 will do just as well and maybe better then 200.

Dude, are you from the past or something?

I don't think so. And to prove it, this a Conor McGregor thread on sherdog with very little response. A single quote from Conor in November would get like 10 pages in 20 minutes.

He probably would have made twice as much fighting in 200 than 202. He lost a ton of cash.

I bet Conor/Diaz outsells 200. Jon Jones has never touched Conor's numbers.

Conor's old news didn't you hear brocks back? He's danas real baby .

I'm very interested to see how his popularity/marketability is affected by his second consecutive beatdown from the 209's finest.

Conor's not beating 200's numbers. Brock coming back after a five year layoff? How many casuals who don't know shit about MMA are going to buy it just to see how he does? Then look at the rest of the card. 200 won't be beat for a long time.

Hmmm. That's a different theory from him 'being embarrassed to show his face again' or 'he went in to hiding in Iceland'

the funniest thing will be if they stacked 200 and 202 still outsold it.... then Conor gets the last laugh

Does he even get PPV points for non-title fights?

He lost the battle for leverage against the UFC, but he didn't lose any money. He gets PPV points, and his short-lived battle with Zuffa brass gave him even more exposure.

Not just that, but his lack of presence. I think he's finding out the hard way that it want' ever him, and was mostly UFC marketing that made him get such high numbers. They can give it to you, and they can just as easily take it away.

Well that's the point. They weren't ever "Conor's numbers", they were UFC numbers, and they could do it with any of several guys. Conor had 2 big fights with a shitload of UFC hype, and did a little better than Jones. Let's not pretend Conor had like 10 consecutive best-selling fights.
